I personally think this is not everyone hating everything at Uni or wanting everything replaced. I think we all have our favorites that we don't want removed. So if I am someone who doesn't want ET removed, but I hate Shrek, I am going to speak up and say tear down Shrek and replace it with something new. Then someone else comes along and hates ET, so they say tear down ET and replace it with something new and so on. So while you see these things, they are not coming from the same person. As for the people who say tear something down for nothing, well I do think those are silly people. Something is always better than nothing. Nothing Uni has done in the last 5 years shows me that nothing is an option.

They had to close Jaws because it was a money pit. It didn't make sense for them to continue spending money to keep it running when they could barely fill the boats with butts. Universal is a business. No business is going to keep pouring money into something unpopular only because it's nostalgic.

I get that Nostalgia only shouldnt save it but surely the running costs where not that bad seeing how lo-tech it was??

It was actually a pretty high-tech ride. But any ride that requires live spiels is expensive as you have to pay the entertainment. Then theres the astronomical cost of using huge amounts of propane for the explosion every few minutes. The water blasts werent cheap to pull off either, and whatever powered the thrust of the shark figure must have been expensive too considering the shark moved pretty fast every ride, and through water.

Gringotts will not only surely be cheaper to operate (building costs aside) due to its lack of spieling TMs, gas effects, and propulsion techniques, but also be a lot more profitable as part of HP.

You're not. I joined over a year ago because this was the only place where there was serious discussion occurring leading up to the start of the transformers project. Since then a lot of folks have joined but tilted the conversation into Rollercoaster Tycoon chatter with either a focus on silly ideas for IP additions, unrealistic buildout theories, or indiscriminate desires to remove offerings left and right. The serious pragmatic discussion among many who grew up with USF has changed over the last 12 months, and thus, me checking in to lurk once a week.

Everything changes .I like the idea of upgrading/retheming whole area's .Lost continent is almost gone anyway.
If they build an on-site water park .I like getting rid of toon lagoon also.
JP is an expansion and the only thing they are doing away with is a never open anyway walkthru attraction.(trike)

Some of the things you mentioned are 10 years out (rumored)
So I do not have a problem with them updating to be/seem new and exciting every few years.

A lot of that needs updating to fill the 10,000 new on-site rooms that are coming

I'm also really tired of people moaning about X attraction, demanding that it be removed. The number of posts regarding Kids Zone is ridiculous since it's not aimed at any of us. I don't know how many posters have kids, not that many I'd assume, but the bulk of us, why care so much about Kids Zone? Seriously, worry about something else in the park.

As for the Beetlejuice show or T2 or any attraction, if it gathers a crowd, deal with it. It goes without saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but sometimes people just need to get a clue. Some of this stuff is even worse in the Disney sections of the forum.

The reason people speak of the KidZone is because Universal is actually planning on overhauling it at some point, we just don't know what their exact plans are.

And just because it's aimed at kids does not excuse it from being lackluster.

Agreed. We are talking because it is on the chopping block and I do have kids and agree it is a bad area. We do the roller coaster the most, but we don't do the purple thing or animal actors. The play area is ok, but really could be better. We don't spend a lot of time in this area... because well it is bad.
