To get into the subject of Pedro--I sincerely doubt he's being sunsetted; and more think it's due to they're just going to hold off on Mandalorian Season 3 any further in the developments until A.) they figure out what to do with Cara Dune (as I don't see the character being sunsetted), B.) finish production on both Book of Boba Fett, Andor, and Obi-Wan, and C.) to lessen costs for a little while.

Cara Dune is an easy character to sunset. No reason to recast imo, especially since she was an original character to the show. Just create a new character and cast Ruby Rose.

I strongly encourage you to watch the movie Gunn made for Troma. It'll make his tweets look like a script for an episode of Mr. Rogers.

He wrote two movies for Troma (but didn't direct). Typical Troma fare, which is anything but typical for most other studios.

Sigh. Look, what she said was monumentally stupid, and I'm very left-wing *by US standards.* But Disney is in the wrong here. Freedom of speech should not just apply to the government, it should apply elsewhere too.

If you use your public platform to compare conservatives to the literal Holocaust, you should not be surprised when your employer wants nothing to do with you.

Come on, guys. This isn't even a slippery slope argument. It's "don't continue to post obviously heinous and vile things" if you want to keep your job with a public-facing company.

Maybe, but Pascal said that the US was like Nazi Germany a couple years ago. I probably am closer to agreeing with Pascal than with Carano, mind you, but I still think it was unfair of Disney to do that.

No one with left of center politics should support corporations having this sort of censoring power.

We are not doing this again. Enough with the bad faith arguments.

There is nothing unfair about an employer choosing to part ways with an employee who engages in a repeated pattern of toxic and harmful behavior. Being fired for your job for doing something abhorrent does not constitute censorship - it is being held accountable for your actions.

There is a separate conversation to be had about corporate power, but it absolutely does not apply to an entertainment company choosing to remove someone who represents a liability to their product.

August 2, 2020 - Gina Carano tweets a picture of a Nazi Rally in 1936 and over the following days tweets out further things mocking those who criticized her.

September 13, 2020 - Gina Carano mocks the Trans community by putting "beep/bop/boop" in her bio in response to people asking her to put her pronouns in her bio. Now she didn't have to put the pronouns in her bio, but this move by her was specifically a way to make fun of the community. Disney talks to her.

November 5-14, 2020 - Gina Carano tweets out election conspiracy theories about voter fraud (among other things) and memes spreading false information. Disney again reaches out.

November 15, 2020 - Gina Carano tweets out to a Youtuber (whose name I won't mention) who is often praise-worthy of Gina and tears down Pedro Pascal, calling him "an absolute garbage human being" and a "talentless f***ing hack". Carano deleted this tweet. She also would tweet out memes mocking the pandemic, mask wearing and anti-vaxx messaging.

Disney would have a sit-down meeting with Gina shortly after those tweets and she supposedly gave them her word that she would stop her social media antics. She did at the very least until The Mandalorian ended. In January, she would defend her November tweets, however.

Then we get to February 10, 2021, which is when she finally got fired. Notice Disney gave her THREE official strikes (and then some) before they finally had enough. To compare this to James Gunn on any level is ludicrous considering his tweets were 10 years old and they still fired him without ANY warning whatsoever. No meeting, nothing. Gina was given plenty of chances.

No one but the government CAN censor you. This isn't even within shouting distance of a FoS issue, whether you're left, right or center. To say otherwise is (charitably) to misunderstand both the situation and the underlying principles.

The crazy thing is that Disney was getting ready to hand her the keys to her own Cara Dune spin-off show. Gina had the chance to have a place in the Star Wars galaxy for years to come and make more money than she's probably ever dreamed she could make and she threw it all away because she couldn't control her urges to tweet ridiculous things. I love conversing, but i'd gladly at the very least hire an intern to look over my tweets before I send them out if I was ever in her position.

Just wanted to add that my previous post I am in no way defending her actions. Just saying that what both actors were using to compare modern days is in bad taste. (Pedro’s very, very less so though)

I mean I can be fired if I was making really stupid remarks. I don't get why many get upset at actors being let go for stupid things.

99% of us have to play by the rules, and these actors are making in a a year what many make in their whole life. If you want to make that kinda money learn to shut up your stupid thoughts or never grow and make your own company to spew BS.
