For years I have heard that we don't get fireworks at Universal because of the neighbors. Are you saying it's possible to have better fireworks shows? ... Apparently Disneyland does it all the time.

Although very similar ideas, they are handled very differently behind the scenes. Universal can do fireworks shows, however, they must have a special permit to do so. Disneyland has an ongoing permit which gets renewed. Disney also has far more reach on the neighboring communities over Universal which is attempting to be “neighbor friendly”. DLR is limited to 10” shells. WDW gets to have 12” shells. Universal California is primarily a movie studio, Orlando is a theme park...see the difference?

The bottom line is just like LAX...nobody ever planned for this location to ever support the amount of people and growth that we are seeing in the 21st century over 50 years ago!!! Now you can understand why land value is so high in the state of California...ownership of land makes you the leader! Why do you think Disneyland was built around the strawberry fields of Anaheim in 1955...? Land was cheap out there! Not any more! Orlando land is still cheap today!

aka - Property surrounding Disneyland: $500k, Property surrounding Universal: $1M. Politics carry the rest.
