Universal 2nd Ticket Scan?

The other day (02-12) i went to Islands, and immediately after going through the turnstiles our ticket was scanned again. Anyone now what the purpose of this was? I know there were a bunch of big groups that day, so was this perhaps an extra scan to see how many people there were apart from the big groups?

With a hand held scanner ? maybe they are trying to catch ticket reusers ?
I have seen that They do not like people to use a preused ticket (by someone else).
But some of the ticket places sell them.

If you had a multi day ticket that had a gap
they may have questioned it further.

Yes, small hand held scanner, looked like a big pen.
I thought you cannot share multiday tickets anyway because they are linked to your fingerscan?

It was pretty busy at the turnstiles though Thursday morning, there were a couple of big South-American groups and it seemed like they were not fully prepared to have so many people all at once in the morning.

That is interesting. I was also wondering because there are literally hundreds of places that sell those 'used' tickets in the area. That is something that it seems they could do more to at least attempt to discourage without too much effort. I just don't know why they wouldn't do more.
