I'll most likely be at the park for my bday next month, which will be roughly 2 weeks before FanFest starts... so I'll do a photo update of stuff.

I bet they'll just hang a cheap plastic banner that says Star Trek like they did for AQP last year

Been seeing a lot of marketing pop up lately. Last two or so weeks, a few people who know that I am into Horror Nights have been asking me about this, which shows to me that the marketing is reaching general public fairly well. I really hope this event works out.

Still underwhelmed by the menu, but also.. I know they're capitalizing on the first film, but dammit.. I want Mel's rethemed to CAFE 80s from Part II (permanently ...until whatever takes over Parisian/French St)

How much earlier is early access for this event (i.e is it worth it?)

Also is there an AP discount, asking for a friend who just had his plans open up.

I'm getting really concerned that they don't know how to pitch this to the average guest.

Gut feeling, mostly, at this stage. I haven't asked how sales are doing or anything like that. But I am watching the advertisements and announcements roll out, and if I put myself in the shoes of an average guest who doesn't know anything about this event other than what Universal's publicly said, it sounds like a cosplay event with some special characters and food.

I think they need to do a better job explaining the scope of some of these "experiences," even if it means releasing some renders or concept art. I don't think people understand they're going to get to visit a Star Trek bridge with live actors or encounter a giant, physical dragon.

I suspect advertising this will get easier after the initial week, as they'll have publicity footage they can push at that point. But this event only runs for a month or so...

That was literally my complaint from the start because they dropped the tickets out of nowhere without any build up or hype like they'd normally do for HHN.

They announced the IPs last year in the most vague way. Then if you didn't pull up the site or follow IU (or other fans), you'd never learn further details

Even now, they're not exactly selling the event. They just expect the big IPs to sell it without expanding upon each offering.

And HHN, or at least the concept of a horror event at a theme park, is an extremely known quantity! I’ve been surprised by how vague or bland the advertisement has been so far. It’s basically just a one sheet with a bunch of logos.

Even on the website, you still really have to go out of your way to the FAQ section to get remotely what kind of event this is. I hope the event does well, but I don’t think it will gain the traction it should until videos come out of the experiences. It’s kinda hard selling a “not scary HHN”

Potter & Nintendo don't pull anyone in for this because they already exist in the park. BTTF is also an existing IP for the park, complete with DeLorean.

Wicked was added, but so last minute it's not even part of the marketing.

OnePiece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Star Trek, D&D should be emphasized more due to not having an existing park presence.

Maybe opening it and getting footage for ads is half the battle?

It is, but it doesn't bode well for the opening weekends. Again, I would've tried to release renders or concept art that clearly communicate the scale of the offerings, as this just isn't a known quantity or category of entertainment. From the commercial spot they released, it looks like it's just an opportunity to show up to the park in costume after hours.

This news sucks. Maybe they can consider doing a projection show like what we briefly saw at the SNW grand opening:
