Is it safe to say that this is going to be the USA's Tokyo Disney Sea? That's the vibe I am getting.

Everyone has their own opinion, but I believe DAK is the closest we'll get to a fully immersive theme park at the scale of DisneySea. Mind you, DisneySea and DAK aren't close... but it's the closest we'll get in terms of theming/detail.

DAK is the only domestic park in the US that looks, and feels, realistic park-wide.

Having been to TDS, I think EU will be closer to it than DAK. TDS is very exaggerated in its theme. More of a caricature than “real”

There are a couple of different angles from which to compare a park to Tokyo DisneySea: level of theme/design ambition and the attractions lineup.

On the first point, I think Animal Kingdom's approach to cohesive design is almost as impressive as what I've seen from TDS, though as @JungleSkip points out, they're not trying to do exactly the same thing in terms of approach (AK is trying to be more realistic and authentic, while TDS is more heightened and fantastical). But the level of ambition is similar, and while there are still some things that give me pause about Epic Universe's dedication to cohesive theming (an outdoor coaster -- which will run in the daytime -- themed to a werewolf, various sight line questions yet to be answered, etc.), I'm optimistic that Universal is aiming high and wants the park to be in the conversation around the best-themed parks in the world.

In terms of attractions, I think, short of getting into a time machine and heading back to the USF and Epcot of the 1990s, Tokyo DisneySea is basically everything I want from a park (and it's going to be even more so when Fantasy Springs opens), so it's unfair to even begin to compare EU to it (not just because I'm really only truly psyched for about half of the ride lineup... but primarily because none of us have been on any of the attractions yet aside from Mario Kart!).

And certainly Animal Kingdom does not yet have enough rides to truly stand alongside the greatest theme parks (just judging it purely on that metric; I love the park overall).

The thing about Tokyo DisneySea is that park had a LOT of space. I watched a walking tour of the entire park and was amazed at how much distance there was between "attractions" for just walkways and landscape. And when space is at a premium I don't see many theme parks giving up valuable real estate just for ambience.

Yea, and one of the (IMO) downfalls of the park is they made it a bit of a pain to get from one place to another in the park. It's a great park, but it's VERY easy to get turned around in it.

For me: The fact that there is a desired expectation that EU could/should be comparable to DTS, highlights the lack of consensus that we currently have a US domestic park of that quality. Whether or not that’s a fair expectation to saddle EU with is probably a whole different conversation.

I mean, we have a few US parks that are better than TDS (IMO). Give me Disneyland and IoA over TDS basically any day of the week. I think EU has a shot at being on that level as well, depending how the Monsters and MOM dark rides turn out.

I think the real showpiece will be the hub area. Parks will have rides and immersive "zones" but having a central hub with walkways weaving in an out of heavily landscaped areas with waterfalls and water features is something I am really looking forward to

I think Universal was very influenced by the design of TDS for sure. However I don’t think they will be extremely similar as this is two different companies so execution might play a factor in this regard.

Disney Sea and Animal Kingdom seem similar on that they are incredibly detailed but do not have a lot of rides. A lot of TDS recent expansion has been bringing clones of Soarin and Midway Mania.

Epic Universe sounds like it will be the best of Universal not Disney: each land will be on the level of Diagon Alley and will be mostly coasters and dark rides, doubling down on what guests and fans like the most at the expense of variety.

Can't argue with that....probably a smart thing to open a new $billion park with a bunch of crowd pleasers. I do think that there will be more variety than you give it credit for however. 2 major indoor shows, a fountain/water show, 1 family water ride, 1 highly themed flat ride, an incredibly themed and unique carousel, a slow moving omnimover ride, a large selection of sit-down and quick service dining and quite possibly the most lavishly landscaped "hub" with tons of water features.....not to mention only the second hotel connected to a major theme park (Grand Californian and DCA being the other).

I believe @Alicia mentioned it before in a video, but I think the rumored lineup is Frank, Drac, Wolfman, Creature, Mummy, and Hunchback

Would be surprised if the Bride wasn’t somewhere though as some monster girl power

Kinda surprised that Phantom of the Opera isn't getting a scene in the ride..

Also, wonder why they went with the name "Monsters Unleashed: The Frankenstein Experiment" instead of "Universal's House of Horrors" like the old walk-through at USH?

Because the story isn’t a “House of Horrors.”

The story is the Monsters getting Unleashed during a Frankenstein Experiment.

Hi everyone! ! :)

Yesterday, my boyfriend showed me an Instagram story about an apartment with a view of the Sacré Coeur, and something struck me,
I think the view of the cathedral in this post might be close to the perspective Universal is trying to replicate.

IU_PICS_01.png

I live nearby and having a view of the cathedral I was wondering where these buildings (number "1" in the photo above) came from.
I often go running up there and I've already tried to find the view angle the bigature is trying to replicate without success, the set of buildings in front didn't match.

IU_PICS_1.png

After seeing this post, I think it's close to the view guests will have of the Sacré Coeur.
The row of buildings in the front seems to match, as does the location of the main dome in relation to the secondary dome in front of it.

The view of the tower to the right of the cathedral will be blocked by the facades (number "2" in the picture).

I found it interesting, what do you think ?
