Personally I think this park needs way more Cabanas. They sell out and cost a ton so it feels like they're leaving money on the table here.

I wholeheartedly agree. While I think some people make a bigger deal out of the designation since it’s just a name, I believe that if you’re going to use that tagline, you should aim for pulling off something that blends water slide/dark ride. It doesn’t need to be an E-Ticket attraction, but it should be something unique to water parks.

I agree and I think Universal bet wrong on several aspects of the park that would have been better spent on show scenes.

I've seen it popping up a lot on why VB doesn't have more traditional theme park elements. Well, you need to staff a whole other set of staff just for the "dry" aspects. Not only does Universal need slide operators who have all the required training, but they also need a totally new and different staff for the dry rides. They need slide techs AND ride technicians. This is in addition to the operational questions about bare feet, towels, and wet bathing suits on rides. There's a reason why all the water park hybrid rides either went away (RIP Rollersoaker) or are at places with money (Abu Dabi); same situation water park/theme park ride hybrids which try to isolate the two areas (Hersheypark), smaller local attractions (Sesame place), or places with money (Abu Dabi).

This is what I found when I searched for further info on this. Seems to me they are legal but very restrictive to who is allowed to have one.

The park is built and there's really no space for anything like this here anymore, but in my mind, a water theme park should just be a largely traditional theme park where you can get on a water ride and not have to worry about getting soaked. Does that make sense?

Everytime I'm in IoA, or DAK, or SWO, and walk past any of their flume or raft attractions, I will hard pass most of the time. Because I'm in shorts and I'm wearing socks, and I've got the whole day ahead of me, and I really don't want to get soaked on Popeye's right before waiting in that indoor Kong queue haha! In a water theme park, I should walk into whatever Dudley-style ride they've got willingly, because I'm already prepped with swim trunks, sandals, sunscreen, and because getting soaked is the whole point! Slides and things like that would be fun supplementary attractions, but I want actual full-potential water rides that I don't have to stress about ruining my day!

It's all semantics at the end of the day, but as wonderful as Volcano Bay is, it's really just an improved version of something like Blizzard Beach. Not a "water theme park", but a "themed water park".

I'm reminded of Worlds of Fun as they used to have Monsoon which was your usual Shoot-the-Chutes water ride, what was unique was they had it straddling between the theme park and their water park, and they used a dual load station so both the theme park guests and water park guests could both ride it. Makes perfect sense for the water park considering how drenched you could get if you stood on the exit bridge.

I mean, this is for the best. If the Fearless River had a bar along the way, I'd surely beat my record of three laps in a row by about 70. Also, Id be looking like a wrinkly prune for the rest of the day.

I'm on board with this.

It's mine and my husband's favorite at VB lol I'm 100% with you on this one haha
But if it had a swim-up bar, I'd have no reason to get out and go to the boat bar. I could just live in Fearless for the day. what a vibe lol

I wonder if they could look at the idea of the rotating water slide as a means of having another major large raft water slide, if to have it be as a hook visually for the back half of the park and for I5 itself.

Looks lovely, relatively long ride with none of that random going backwards BS that tube rides usually do.

A true water theme park would use any and every wet idea each IP could possibly have. A long but not comprehensive list:

HTTYD: Boats/fishing
Shrek: Lazy Bog
Kung fu Panda: Pool of Sacred Tears and the the Showers of inner peace
Shark Tale: exists
Ruby Gillman: exists
Flushed Away (surprise): Sewer Slides
Any other DW movie with an ocean scene: Food, Characters, Theming
Despicable/Minions: The AVL Submarine
Mario: Isle Delphino + the literal theme park on it
Zelda: Wind Waker Wave Pool, King of Red Lions Flume
Splatoon: in general
Pokemon: don't get me started
Black Lagoon: a literal Black Lagoon, mmm chemicals
HP: that one Tri-wizard challenge or Durmstrangs ship
Godzilla: The Ocean
Kong: The Island
Suess (if they can): Sneetches on Beaches
LotR: River Raft, Ent Flood
Wicked/Oz: Complimentary anti-witch buckets

Any one of these could be the the first igniting Catalyst at VB.

With the October-March 2026/27 closure announced what is Volcano Bay adding/redone during that period?
