Ew, not liking it.

I think the issue is that WDI now, unlike before, has to work with a strict budget and are literally being given what to do without any creativity on their part.

The Six Flags Justice League rides actually do a good job at making the riders feel like heroes, so it is possible to build a good ride that lets the riders be heroes.

There should have been a new Disney park with Marvel and Star Wars as the headliners. Marvel wouldn't be able to carry the wait all on it's own (especially if the brand dies out somehow), but a four-land park like Epic Universe would have been fine.

That park could have had Pandora (west coast version), Marvel (New York and Wakanda), Star Wars (Galaxy's Edge with another ride or two and the entertainment that got cut), and Pixar. Tron could have been in the entrance area to keep it out of Tomorrowland (rumors keep saying that it'll go there). Problem solved.

This is what should have happened. That way Marvel and Stars Wars would get the space they need in the new park. Plus, this would mean that Marvel and Star Wars wouldn't have felt forced into DCA and DL like they are now. I have kind of accepted DCA post Guardians as a hodgepodge park with some fun rides, but it would be a much stronger park overall if it stuck with the strong California theme that DCA 2.0 initially had.

Star Wars planets have ALWAYS been boring. In fact galaxy's edge is far more colorful and diverse than 90% of the planets found in star wars.

I highly doubt Sony's going to legally be able to do anything..however, I have to wonder just how involved Sony was with the ride; alongside Marvel Studios.

I don’t think that ride is approved if Disney didn’t think they’d include Spider-Man in the MCU.

If anything, maybe Comcast might be the one doing it instead of Disney. I bet they will if they have the chance.

So then the question comes: What do they do with the current projects being built for Disney's California Adventure, and Walt Disney Studios Paris? Would they keep the attraction as Spider-Man centric (but change it up to differ from Tom Holland's), or would they retheme the attraction to match something else?

If they didn't reach Sony with any meaningful deal after this disaster, probably not. They don't want to create an attraction or anything that would be seen as promoting a rival studio. They didn't do the same for X-Men and F4 in Disney attractions, M&Gs, and comic books (with Disney acquiring Fox, they might do that). With Sony now wanting to produce their own SM movies and given the supposed "Spider-Man" ride concept, Disney might probably rename it to those from Avengers instead.

Make it an underground SHIELD training facility. Would be much better than the disgrace of slapping the name "spider-man" onto an attraction that has almost nothing to do with it.

Since Sunday it’s been one negative story after another.

On the ride theme I can’t imagine Disney would choose to make a ride about Spider-Man if they weren’t 100% confident that they would be able to use the character in the future. Maybe this is why the concept art showed such a generic theme. They could easily scrap Spider-Man and go with iron man or any other of the tech focus super hero. I do have to wonder though if the lackluster response the attractions concept art leak and this will have any effect in switching the rides character.

You know..this could make sense. And it isn't like they don't have an opportunity to include film characters, as Sebastian and Anthony will be filming Falcon/Winter Soldier in October if they can't secure a deal properly again for Marvel and Sony.

Why does anyone think this deal changes the ride? Sony doesn’t own theme park rights so they just make Spider-Man for the ride not Tom Holland. It’s super easy to keep as a Spider-Man ride

Wow if DCA's Spider-man plans didn't pale to IOA's already, going to another generic spiderman + Toy Story Mania ride system is going to be incredibly underwhelming for this large of a franchise. (assuming they keep it Spider-Man and don't pivot to Avengers)

Disney could have done with X-Men and F4 in Disneyland Resort in the pre-Disney Fox days, but the thing is they don't want to create or promote attractions and M&G that would benefit a rival studio. They heavily promote MCU since they own and distributed the movies. Besides, the new "Spider-Man" ride at DCA is lacking and doesn't scream Spiderman to me; it screams more on the Avengers side instead.

but why would you want to? If you are Disney and super pro synergy then why theme an attraction that is all ready designed to be generic, with a character that’s no longer associated with the MCU?
