Remember in December 2011 how they were holding a test for a new interactive game for AK? Well now it's coming. From the Disney Parks Blog:

Have you seen the Disney•Pixar film “Up”?

If you recall, young Russell from the film is a dedicated Wilderness Explorer who can’t wait to earn badges by having all kinds of adventures while learning about the world

We’re happy to announce that the Wilderness Explorers adventure organization is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, with a planned opening this spring. Soon, guests can become Wilderness Explorers and experience the entire park using their field guides, completing challenges and earning badges as they go. With more than 30 badges available, Wilderness Explorers is fun for the whole family and helps guests experience Disney’s Animal Kingdom and its themes in a new and exciting way.

Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more information.

Adequate amount of like. SOTMK and Agent P are popular, it's interactive and educational, and finally it's something else to do at DAK. Should be a home run.

This certainly has potential. Would be even better if it were just to hold people over while a real attraction was being built, but alas.

Yup, HTF said that a week or two ago. Star Wars is going in that spot (read up on it in the Avatar thread or somewhere in the secret stash).

It irks my soul they've done nothing with Up. Such a wasted opportunity.

Oh that is awesome!!! Last thing I read was the plans to move FoLK for it so I was a little behind on that one.

From Press Release:

Coming soon, Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests will be invited to become Wilderness Explorers and experience the park in engaging and challenging ways aimed at deepening their understanding of animals and the natural world we live in. Taking the official pledge, armed with field guides and earning sticker badges along the way as they complete their challenges, guests explore the park at their leisure. Aimed at guests 7-10 but fun for the entire family, Wilderness Explorers will be self-guided and encourage more “up close and personal” time with the animal inhabitants of the park. Wilderness Explorers will be included in Disney’s Animal Kingdom admission.
