Yes, it'll have long lines for sure. It might not be thrilling enough for the late teenager and twentysomething crowd. But it'll be real thrilling, and lots of fun, to a 6-14 yr. old kid and his parents/grandparents. Different standards of thrill depending on age.

Oh I just think we won’t see another one simply due to capacity. Time will tell in regards to ride comfort.

You're probably right, but honestly for me, while it is slightly (un)deservingly disappointing to me as a DK fan, I do have a feeling that this probably will be a ride that I do like as a twentysomething year old myself. I just have a feeling that I will probably be one of the few who will have a different opinion on it compared to others. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who, I feel myself, has a couple of opinions on Universal's parks that are hot takes (but not to hot for the forums, of course).

Definitely. Things like thrill are individually subjective. ...I'm just speaking in very generalized terms.

technical rehearsals have started but universal is strict on the no photos in land! Just got off mine cart madness. There is a hidden Pikmin in some of the murals in the queue. As for the ride, I Loved it. It’s way more intense and you will be shook. I actually wish it was 30 seconds longer and the no track effect works really well in certain scenes. Also way more wet than expected. I see why they didn’t do the waterfall here in Japan.

What are your thoughts on the indoor scenes? Did the leaked POV make it look worse than it is?

That scene had so much going on in person that you don’t really focus on the the undone space. It’s also a kinda dark area as well.

Does the final scene before unload have more AAs as well? Glad you’re enjoying your trip and the ride!

thanks for the kind words. I posted the final scene

the last scene is DK who is on the right of your vehicle which your cab is turning into the final load and diddy Kong with the mythical banana on your left and the DK beats the floor which causes a reaction in the temple which is just some projection mapping and sound cues. But two AAs have great motion.

Out of curiosity, in terms of intensity, what would be the best comparison? Florida Mummy? A wild mouse?

it’s hard to describe but 7 D mine train and big thunder mountain if it had a launch element. The main difference is there is a lot of lateral movement you aren’t expecting

Some sections have a lot of kick and jerk almost like a launching feeling while others have that mine train coaster like shakiness.

I haven't watched the PoV, but based on rider observations that this ride vibrates/shakes a lot, the thing actually concerns me most about this ride (and has for quite some time but seems more real now) is the longevity of the cars and track.

I would hope the shaking is at least partially intentional to sell the effect, but vibration in a roller coaster is always bad, and history is littered with broken roller coasters that were thoroughly engineered and tested but still failed early because the designers didn't anticipate or account for combinations of stressors. The stress on the track will be immense based on the design alone, and all roller coasters get rougher over time, but the way this is designed just seems like it's going to get a lot of uneven wear and tear which may lead to operational difficulties or an early retracking. I'm really hoping I'm wrong and the track holds up over time and does not develop stress fractures, so I'll be curious to revisit this topic five years from now.

With any prototype, I have this concern.

B&M coasters get a vibration as they age that really hits me hard. Diamondback at Kings Island has one section that gives me a nasty headache each time and so I have quit riding it. Even Banshee has some rattle to it, although sitting towards or in the front seems to alleviate that. I rode Hulk last month and it didn't hit me at all but, of course, it was retracked not too many years ago.

Review: Nintendo’s Donkey Kong theme park adds extra a-peel to Super Nintendo World | VGC

Universal Studio’s Nintendo World expansion delivers its best ride, but misses some classic elements…
www.videogameschronicle.com www.videogameschronicle.com

At one point in the ride, DK and Diddy come screaming towards you in their own minecart, only for your car to switch tracks moments before collision. Not only is it a thrilling experience, but it feels totally authentic to the Donkey Kong games, and by the time we reached the celebrating DK animatronic at the finish line, we couldn’t wait to ride Mine Cart Madness again.

Interesting comment from the review.

"I don't know how I'd feel if I had waited 2 hours for it, but it feels like a proper recreation of the Nintendo game"

This holds for a lot of rides honestly, and it's how I try to judge most rides.

"How would I feel if I had waited 2 hours for this?"

And at USJ it’s not a hypothetical — you WILL be waiting two hours.

(For the record, the only ride I think is worth 2 hours at USJ is Hollywood Dream Backdrop.)

That character suit is really remarkable, but once again, RIP those performers.

The review is fair but there is one thing he didn't mention that I think works better than SNW main area is once you get passed the entrance, you see everyone riding the coaster from a lot of of different vantage points and having a blast on it which even if you are in line for 2 hours (I was in line for 85 minutes) gets you hyped up.

The queue though is extremely underwhelming though so i can give them that.
