People would be nuts if they would've been able to meet 2025 at all.

Guessing Beyond takes Spider-Man 4's spot of July 2026, with then SM4 taking the Christmas 2026 spot.

I always felt like 2026 was the most likely outcome. Maybe even 2027 if we get hit by a decent delay. 2024 or 2025 seems incredibly quick for a production of this scope.

Dumb speculation but I think Lord/Miller Miles will be in Spider-Man 4 or Secret Wars. Genuinely think there is a reason to have Beyond come out before Spider-Man 4, if only to let there be a proper opportunity to introduce the idea of a Miles Morales interpolating with Holland Peter.

Would allow them to then post Secret Wars to age up Holland Peter to bring him closer to the PS4 iteration, where you could more easily integrate a “young” Spider-Man story for the MCU with Miles being handled similar to MCU Peter.

Maybe another multi-year interval will quiet the “half a movie” meme?

I think the revelation of the terrible working conditions of the animators has played a role here.

That and they've straight up admitted they knew how the film started and ended but weren't clear at all about... the pesky middle.

This is is

While sure they had an animation issue that would not add 2 years to a film coming out

Ah sweet, just the majority of the movie. No biggie.

I wonder if its them having trouble on who will be the threat in the middle of the film

Either keep Evil Miles around most the film or maybe they are debating if the Sinister 6 (ruling evil miles timeline) will be a major part of the film or not

I'm sure Sony wants this, but I really don't. Just make interesting stand-alone films at this point. Spider-Man being stuck in the multiverse for no reason other than corporate greed and lack of imagination is maybe the worst result possible.

The Spider-verse movies are great because they have talented creatives with interesting ideas, and No Way Home worked because it was a really solid hook/gimmick that was still novel at the time. Now? Please get me out of here. Wrap up Verse with Pt. 3 and give me normal Spidey stories again. It's only diminishing returns from here out with the Multiverse angle.

How is it possible that directors have only just now been attached?

In what universe were these two movies meant to come out back-to-back? Because it seems like that couldn't have ever really been the plan.

I don't think they got attached JUST now. They've been working on the movie already it's just the first time it's been announced officially.

This is how it often goes with Deadline announcements, by the way. It's timed for optimal PR, not for when it actually happened.

Excellent, while it does sting a little we gotta' wait till 2027...that sting goes away real fast considering how bonkers and involved the animation is, and I'd rather not have the animators go through another time crunch.

I think it was for the best. In all the best trilogies, each movie stands on its own, and had they gone with the original plan the second and third would've blended together.
