I don’t see this at all — Universal is already annoying people in a similar manner to reservations and it would look better if reservations existed and were sold out, rather than just actively discouraging people to come.

I'm curious to see if they could still implement a reservation system. People would hate it, but it might be a requirement. At least for the summer.

It don’t think it’ll be necessary. It is really hard to sell out a theme park to capacity, and considering the current ticket strategy, opening day seems like the only day that has a chance of selling out.

I would really like a theme park to open normally for once in my life time.

The rules of Corporate 101 require an unnecessary amount of restrictions and/or complicated measures that end up hurting the business in the long run.

It's kind of fascinating to see Universal essentially run Endless Summer at a low price point making it easy for people to stay there versus making people jump through hoops for a park.

First time I’m reading this. Is this an actually legit rumor? I mean that’s only about 5000 more than what a college basketball stadium can hold.

I would assume around 25k as well since they don’t want to overwhelm the park. It probably could do 30-35k, but I’d imagine that would be really crowded.

People lost their minds over the whole HHN express selling out opening day. Could you imagine the uproar if single day tix went on sale in the fall and Epic was already sold out through May and maybe June?

It’s not confirmed but based on what we know about existing parks it’s a fair estimate. Anything higher would be USJ/DisneySea waits and bursting at the seams.

This is true.

Obviously another piece of their strategy seems to be that Universal doesn't want to cannibalize their own parks. You can argue that its Universal's fault for not building up studios more, but the park is what the park is at this point. If people have a choice between the three, studios will always come last.

Clearly they feel comfortable enough with ticket sales so far that they are fine holding off on single day tickets. I don't think they'd risk terrible results if they didn't feel confident in the current strategy.

Even if you miss out on people planning vacations for the first few months of Epic opening, is it really that bad? Limiting capacity means you can probably get away with issues not affecting guest experiences as much. Having a ride shut down after a 2 hour wait is infinitely worse than one shutting down after a 45 minute wait.

I always hate to see people lose their jobs. But if this craziness continues, and Comcast doesn't get the results they expect of their many billions invested.....heads will probably roll....They just don't get it...or there's a bunch of Execs that are stubborn and/or lack common sense. They are playing with fire. Sounds like they have a predetermined script they're working, and just working their way down their list....to whatever. You can already see there's a hotel room booking weakness overall (except for HHN, which isn't in Epic). ...Contrarywise, WDW has strong booking for the summer reportedly......Did Universal bring the Escape marketing people back from the dead? This is like Death Wish moves.....Good for me. By the time we go in November they'll be so many pissed off people, the lines should be short................The Boy who lived saved Universal. The Exec. that roadblocked Epic guest visits just might be undercover on Disney's payroll.......................Disney has to be laughing behind closed doors on this ticket fiasco confusion.

What I will say is Disney would never pull this ticketing “stunt.”

They would, however, pull other stunts. I’ll give them this — they know how to sell things. :lmao:

I don't think the lack of multi-day Epic tickets is THAT dire now...

I don’t think so either, especially in the long-run.

It’s ultimately not a big deal, but I do think it risks stunting the park’s opening. Which also isn’t a big deal, but after reading today’s NYT article, Universal does seem to care to some extent.

To be honest I just want to book my trip and forget about it for awhile instead of constantly
Look for updates. I think I just assumed it would have happened by now, and the longer I wait the more frustrated I get. The Florida resident email made me literally stop work to buy tickets …

I don't know about the overall opening, but opening day will be at whatever capacity Universal wants for that day. A lot of "This is ridiculous, I'll just not go people" will cave if there are tickets available for opening day.

It's not dire, but it's certainly putting a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. And it's preventing Universal from taking people's money who are ready to hand it to them.

I'm currently waiting on said tickets to be released, so I get it - but as soon as they are released, this will all be for naught.

To me the whole thing feels a little tacky.

I can't believe it's almost March and we're still wondering about tickets. This being "the conversation" is good for business somehow?

Rolling out the multi-day tickets first is just a strategy to convince people to stay at UOR longer, versus just 1 day at Epic.

Unfortunately I think it also works against longer UOR stays. As I understand it, to get 2 days at Epic (which is an absolute must coming from out of state and likely unable to return for years) I'd be forced to buy two 3-day tickets. Six days is too many park days, we can't fly in and fly out and keep the trip to a week (i.e., 5 days off work). So it's a no-go. I'm leaning toward doing a 4 or 5 day WDW trip this year instead and punting UOR to the future.

I think Universal is losing a lot of 4 and 5 day visits (week-long vacations including flying days) who will either go for only 3 days instead, or not at all.

And releasing tickets in a few weeks is getting too late, out of state travelers need more time to get airline tickets.

So true. Universal has (or had) a golden opportunity to provide a refreshing distinction from the complicated and exploitive tactics of Disney.

When I get multi tickets to Disney , I usually got to Magic Kingdom more than once on my trip. This is no different. I think people will still want to visit other parks , no need to force them.
