Obviously nobody on here. However, you would be surprised on the amount of people who think things like Harry Potter is in Disney.

Without fail, every day at the UOR entrances you will find someone walking up asking which way Hollywood Studios is.

They can be extremely helpful for Disney trips, securing lightning lanes and dining reservations and all the stressful stuff that’s too complicated for most life forms on earth.

But isn't part of the fun planning out a day to day calendar months in advance with dining reservations and how to beat lightning lanes?!?

In all seriousness, I know I criticize Uni a lot on these forums, but it's partly due to me wanting to prevent them from reaching Disney's level of complexity when visiting the parks. I don't want them to make the same mistakes that WDW did, and is now trying to clawback/correct.

I just feel like there are SO MANY online resources for trip planning in Orlando, I’m always shocked to hear someone booking through a travel agent.

The last time I saw an open travel agency was in a Boscov’s department store where the median age of the clientele was ~80.

People like ease and convenience. Can you get a better deal grinding it all out yourself? Yes. Can a travel agent do it for you and still get you a deal? Yes!

If I weren’t a DVC owner/so engrained in UO, I would definitely surrender to the sweet comforting ease of a travel agent.

It's gotten so complicated, that people would rather throw money at trip planners to do their work instead. People don't have time to sit through various articles on when's the best time to visit, where to eat, where to stay, which ticket package is worth it, what is a lightning lane, etc.

When you're planning a trip that prices out to about $5K+ for a few days, it's easy to pay an extra hundred bucks to 'guarantee' a better planned trip.

Still a big market for international visitors to use touring agencies.

And you don’t even pay them, UO/WDW do. You just get less of a discount that you would have gotten if you searched around and grinded it out yourself.

The dining and fastpass reservations that they can do for you at WDW is entirely worth it. Unless you’re unhinged like us.

Back when I was a younger lad and was new to trip planning, I used a travel agent. She made a few mistakes on our booking that I ended up fixing myself, and since then I never used one again.

I prefer to be in full control of every aspect of my trip - and if something goes wrong, I know it was my fault lol

Not to get too far off track, but someone doing the research and planning everything right a year ago to visit WDW now would be completely wrong on how Lightning Lanes work, which rides do or don’t have Virtual Lines, what the cancellation policy for dining reservations are, and much more.

Research all you want, the parks will find a way to change things too fast for your research to keep up.

This isn’t a dig or slight at anyone, but reality is people need their hands held sometimes in order to do things “the right way”. Especially for vacations like Orlando where you are actively leaving your hotel for your main activities, and the amount of things you can do is overwhelming. Plenty of people need a travel agent still but especially in Orlando.

You're in Orlando. I don't necessarily think the people driving down the street to go to Disney and Universal are going to be asking a Travel Agent to book their stuff.
(And even then, we have people like Cup_of_Coffee claiming that people in your own city still need help)

You think families with kids and full time jobs want to sit down and figure out how to manage their FIRST time trip to Disney or Universal warts and all?
As an agent who specializes in Disney and Universal, i make a point to NAIL it for them and make it all count so that when they go down and have a great time, they always come back to me! And i genuinely feel bad for someone like Codeman who has been done dirty by a travel agent, because that's a client lost and a person who never trusts them to do something again, which is a shame, cause it's that type of loss that does the entire industry a bad name.

There is a PLETHORA of examples.
What's a Skyliner and why is it only offered at certain resorts?
How about Disney Dining plan options? What's the difference? How do those credits work? Why does something like Cinderella's Royal Table or Be Our Guest use 2 of them?
Lightning lane options? Multi-Pass? Virtual Queue?
Do you know how Disney promos work? When they're released? Do most people even know that you can still add a Disney promotion to your trip even though it was booked 6 months ago and it can end up saving you hundreds or possibly thousands of dollars?

Like, Alicia said, these companies change their policies SO OFTEN why not go to a professional to get those details yourself?

And guess what? I charge NOTHING EXTRA for my services! These agencies exist!
What's better than an expert in their field giving you the same price, if not better, for what you were already looking to do and now YOU don't have to do any of the work?

Let's open our eyes a little bit wider than simply what we're used to seeing, empathize with what we might not totally understand, and see that there is a big world out there and not everyone has time or wherewithal to dedicate to planning their own trips :)

It uses an online queue system, like when buying a PS5 from Sony in the early days or rare sneakers where a piece of software tracks everyone, assigns them a spot in line, and lets in a set amount of guests to purchase to not overwhelm the system.

It's unfortunate when someone like that happens because, like you said - because of that I will never use one again lol (even though I'm sure you're great!)

Vacations are a very touchy thing for people and they definitely need to be treated with care!

Imagine being a TM who can't get tickets for the previews BECAUSE you're at work when the tickets drop

THIS 1000% !! I only go to Disney every few years, but every time I go in the last decade I’ve had to re-learn how to plan my vacation. Last time it took so much time out of me I decided I wouldn’t even bother for awhile. It got me completely burned out on the experience. I likely won’t be back until after Villains is done in 2029.

Or I’ll do one day at a park and that’s it. The multi day planning is over.

I used to be a travel agent and 90% of the time I could beat the airfare people found for themselves - often on the same flights. There's a lot of hidden tricks in those 5,000+ daily airfares

To spin off this, it’s why I don’t like making fun of folks who don’t know when the 3 o’clock parade is or don’t book fast passes ahead of time. I like to consider myself a decently intelligent person but I know next to nothing about doing my taxes, and that happens every year! I can give folks some breaks if they missed something or forgot when they were busy performing brain surgery.

My last travel agent experience was 2003. Buddy's wedding was on a cruise. Used an agent. Bride and her sister had to collect everyone's info, type it into a spreadsheet, and send it to the agent. She had to remind people when payments were due. Lots of little crap like that. But the kicker was the agent used the group credits to go on the cruise for free. Probably didn't pay for flights either. Well everyone was on the same flight to Miami. We get to the airport. Everyone gets their own bags. We go out to meet the shuttle bus. The shuttle isn't there. We wait and wait. Someone asks the agent where the shuttle was. I kid you not he said "How would I know?" That dude almost shrank into a ball from the looks he got. I guess the shuttle eventually arrived. We just grabbed a cab at that point.
