Awww, damn. OK.

(And sorry if that last message seemed curt. I was on my phone and just typed a quick response.)

Imhotep isn't in the ride, that's actually Dracula saying the line during that part (I think). Kinda makes it even more confusing though.

Is that not him in the coffin? Also, very bizarre choice to have Dracula be saying it as the mummy coffin is opening, that didn't come across well.

The mummy is Ankhesenamun. Ygor mentions her sometimes using she/her pronouns, and there’s a specimen list that uses that name in preshow one.

We discussed this a while back before we knew the final lineup but had reason to believe the Mummy here might be female. Makes things gel a little easier with Imhotep over in the Studios park.

Ah! I thought the one in the coffin was Imhotep, then the one on the screen and giant animatronic were both her. Cool that it's all her!

Okay, but why is the attraction called "The Frankenstein Experiment" when Victoria explicitly calls it "The Dracula Experiment?"
Frankenstein is the name of the doctor, the future prequel attraction focused on the monster would be the Victoria Frankenstein's Monster Experiment.

I'm still quite happy that while the ride itself is not quite as intense scare-wise as I was hoping, story-wise they really didn't pull any punches here. Victoria is a fantastic morally grey character/borderline villain, some of the experiments performed on the monsters you read about are genuinely disturbing (you even see Dracula being tortured in the queue line), and the found-footage videos showing Victoria and Ygor capturing the monsters was very off-putting.

Well done, Universal.

It still has a nice spooky feeling doesn't it? I was expecting something somewhat spooky but nowhere near levels of a HHN attraction. The lore on this ride does sound really cool though. I actually can't wait to ride this ride in person.

Oh the entire experience absolutely still has a very nice spooky feel to it, and the ride itself will still get the job done scaring younger audiences and likely some casual goers not knowing what to expect. I just wish it was pushed a lot more.

I agree I mean when they were describing it seemed like it was going to be the scariest ride in the history of rides. I'm not mad that it may not be as scary as monster's fans would have hoped but I would be lying if I said that I wouldn't have also wanted it to be scarier.

That is definitely my biggest disappointment, they really overhyped how scary this thing was gonna be.

You guys never would have survived the Revenge of the Mummy press campaign. Month after month of "psychological thrill ride" and teasing that everyone wouldn't make it off the thing alive.

The totality of Monsters Unchained seems right in line with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which is a perfectly acceptable level of scary, IMO.

Fair enough! I think ToT, Mummy and Jaws are apt comparisons, especially the latter.

I still remember as a kid, I was terrified of the Jaws ride, yet there was always a small part of me that also enjoyed it and wanted to ride it again, despite still being scared. I think Unchained will capture that same feeling very effectively with younger audiences.

...still hoping they adjust things so that you get a lot closer to a lot of the monsters.
