That's better than not having anyone who was involved in the '90s update, yes.

I'm going to echo similar sentiments. The only scene that was badly in need of an update was the finale. The rest of the attraction didn't need any changes and nicely conveyed the themes and messages it was aiming to. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

COP to me was a cultural and technological history lesson mixed with some heart and humor. I'm not sure 2026 Imagineers understand the assignment....and even if they do....those ideas won't make it past corporate overlords.

Let's face it.....Corporate America doesn't want us to know or remember the past. Time to collect books, pictures and documents.....they will become treasures once AI is fully instituted.

It was weird that we went from 1900s, 1920s, 1940s, to 1999.

It was weird when they did it in 1994, and it's even weirder now.

I assumed they were going to revert the finale back to 1960s to be honest, if they were going to *only* update the finale. But that would be hard with the voice actors deceased and the original ending being a different voice actors than the current one.

At the end of the day the decades presented in the 1964/65 Worlds Fair version of the show are exactly as distant to those audiences as the new decades for this upcoming version will be to us.

It has been 60 years, and this update will now buy them 60 more.

The amount of technological leaps from 1969 to now is crazy. Heck, even 1985 to now.

So going from the 1940s to 2026 and beyond is an insane leap. It was time. I get the want for having something represented from a WW2-era house, but there are only so many rooms in the theater to cover the range, so, understandably, concessions needed to be made.

Maybe they can send the original pieces to the Smithsonian…

*Sigh*…Nevermind.

Seriously the first one was a 60 year look back and now this new version is a 60 years look back.

WDI’s been plusing and upgrading COP for over a year now. Let’s go, I’m excited.

Surprised they aren't trying to shove or completely replace CoP with an IP lol

I’m happy they’re making smart changes and not making the family The Incredibles or Fantastic Four or something.

I don’t think any IP would have made sense here unless they completely gutted the attraction plus they had already announced the Walt animatronic which let me know the direction they were going in way back when.

I think 1900 to 1964 was a more radical change in how people lived their daily lives than 1969 to today, and I think it's a mistake to not have at least one reused scene from the first half of that century.

It's also going to be bizarre to have Walt Disney introducing a version of the attraction now with zero connection to the one he oversaw.

IDK just seems like Disney, or theme parks in general, are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I will mostly miss the early scenes of the attraction. They were nice glimpses into a past that we didn't live, or experience.

When it opened in Queens, my grandparents, who did live through that first scene, rode and enjoyed it.

Disagree completely. The 20-year one-generation jumps worked great in 1964. Adding a 50+-year jump destroys the whole idea of "progress." Especially when the last scene is a horribly dated retro-prediction of a 1999 that never was. In my ideal head canon, they'd go to 50 year jumps--keep the first scene, update the third a bit to better reflect the 50s, add in a third ca. 1980 ("Called a V - C - R ... we can watch movies at home whenever we want! And in the kitchen, some new fangled oven, a 'microwave'...), then the current day or 5 minutes into the future. But I can live with this proposal, if Imagineering can pull it off. I'm just not sure they can pull off the whimsey required.

That said, maybe the idea of celebrating American process really is best left in the 20th Century, and we'd be better off with a Stitch dark ride. Sadly. looking forward to a bright future is no longer a shared value that defines us.

I don’t think it’s weird to have Walt introduce a changed version of COP because he was always about change. Walt famously didn’t want his projects to become frozen in time. It's still his idea, just not his version.

Yeah, that last redone scene really didn't fit well, especially with the family ages, and was the only one I didn't care much for. Loved the first three....That said, I'm glad they'll stay with the 'family' and not get too IP ish. Main issue is it's staying and not closing. That's the big plus to me. But I'll certainly miss those early 19th century scenes. They were close to perfect..............but time marches on and smartphone dominated people today aren't very historical oriented. So Disney really had no choice.
