For those of you who don't have Bluesky (and you really should; Twitter is such an awful place), I'll generously share my close up pic. This was taken from behind the current chain link fence.

Panels have been getting installed at EastSide! It seems the roof paneling will be a greyish color of some kind. (Photo credit by @ethanuniversal)

From @ethanuniversal--work is advancing further on the cover pieces for the roofing as cover pieces for the pillars are being installed aswell. Additionally; fans have been turned on in Eastside.

From what it seems, Central, Eastside, and presumably Westside will all have differing architectural design choices.

And echoing what @Rideguy70, at least as of today; it seems all they have left are mainly 3-4 panels for the escalators on Central. Stanctions are up, trash cans are nearly placed perfectly, and it's at this point a simple waiting game. It also sounds like the bathrooms over by Cinema are wrapping up, with signage being placed for the facilities.

Today's the big day. New security bubble goes live today.

Anybody at the park today to feel out how it went?

I saw a video

It looks like if your rope dropping the lines should be still super easy

It will be on the busier afternoons, when its going to be seen if this is a good change or not but from what I've seen online its easy to get in still

Has it really been since 2001 that we could freely move between Citywalk and the theme park entrance like this? I used to go a lot around 2006-2007 and I swear I had that freedom back then? Unless this is a typo because this photo purports to have been taken in 2010:

I think security pre-2015 did go up to the front gates so you should've been able to approach the globe back then.

I think this will take a little getting used to but I think it will be a nice change in the longrun. It will be nice getting to go through Citywalk without having to worry about going through security to get into the park.

Interesting, I see now in the image I shared that the umbrellas were most likely the earlier version of the security checkpoint. Maybe I've completely blocked it from my memory because as a youngin', I never had a bag or anything like that on me so maybe I was just able to breeze on through every time and it never even really registered in my brain that such a checkpoint really existed? Crazy.

Just to add a few more things

Minor fencing along the exit (I'm sure to separate people leaving from people entering. Also, one section of the old security has been cleared out to be an exit for people who need access to hotels or Frankenstein.

All exits are via turnstiles. Many former exits are now completely blocked off and have guards.

Overall, I think it's pretty great. It was very smooth, although it seemed to be a low crowd day. But even on a crowded day, the waits will still be cut in half between the two major entry points (I know there's a third, but I don't think it will be used as often). It's exactly the same system as before, though the new entry points have monitors over the different stations, which can come in handy when they need to direct people more.

Feels a bit more like the Disneyland Resort entrance, but it's all closer and no tram is needed, lol. I do think in time the security areas could use some posters/artwork/seating (there's a small area at the bottom of the Jurassic Paring escalators that would make a good meeting point, but has no seating), but that can be easily added in time.

It’s only been a day, but I heard general guests are not happy if not furious at the implementation/ execution of the new checkpoints based on feedback.

From what I gather a lot of the guests were trying to visit only Citywalk/ AMC and felt surprised about the new checkpoints making them late for their showtimes.

Oh okay so more like a lack of communication from Universal, I wonder if they had announced the new changes with the map they sent to TMs if it would have gone better

If you were going to the theme park and had no idea about the change, I could see getting a bit annoyed but being furious would be a bit much IMO...

...but if we're talking about wanting to see a movie at CityWalk or trying to make a dinner reservation, yeah I can absolutely see how that would piss people off.

Anecdotally, I saw a lot of complaints about this in the AMC subreddit. They weren't running enough lanes, either, which meant it took 10-15 minutes to get through the checkpoint. It's a valid criticism if you're used to strolling in just before showtime.

2001, a time when airports and theme parks didn't have so much unnecessary security.

A lot of AMC A-Listers are used to 25 minutes of trailers, so they typically purposely come late at the very tail end of trailers, if not as the movie is starting to avoid trailers they've seen 100 times. That type of coordination means they are used to planning their arrival down to a T. To have this be a factor messes that up and means you have to treat this AMC location more like an event where you are forced to deal with a bunch of people, a possible long wait, and security.

For example, this is going to be a NIGHTMARE for anyone trying to see a movie while Halloween Horror Nights is starting from the 5-9pm time frame. It already was bad during that time just dealing with parking, but this is another factor.

With that said, I wish they had an AMC lane to drive into, an AMC designated parking area, and an AMC security entrance which I imagine would be much more low profile. Whether parkgoers start to abuse that or not is a different story, but I imagine most people would follow the rules.
