Please. HTF, we need something to discuss/complain about regarding kong!

Any talk of kong AA yet?

The "please stay on topic" plea goes down the drain quick with Dudly Crappy Is No Fun ride.

Anyway I thought HTF told us that there would be an amazing Kong AA with very articulate arm motions made workable by KUKA like robotic arms.

They could do so much with KUKA arms on Kong. I honestly wouldn't think it would be too hard to program a giant AA to open its mouth, growl, and raise his arms up and bring them towards his chest as if he's beating it.

In hopes of finally getting this thing back on track. A summary of what HTF has told us thus far:
demoncarnotaur said:
I actually wrote it down:

Two connected vehicles
“Driver/guide” in first vehicle
4-6 people per row
5-6 rows in first vehicle
7-8 rows in 2nd
Enter attraction through giant gates/old ruins left of Thunder falls terrace (where T-Rex Photo op is)
go underground through ruins/temple. Heavily themed
go upstairs/top of temple to ride load area (outdoors)
scenes 1-3 are outdoors
3-4 transition indoors through wall
4a,4b,5 indoors
5-6 transitions back outside
“Very unique” bonus scene after unload.

4a (insect chasm) has 4 active AAs, + multiple insect projections. (Scorpions, centipedes, dragonflies)

4b vehicle loses (control) into a cave (bat cave)
Scene 5 is the major scene with Kong (large number of projectors in this scene)
Scene 6 will have something physical that a lot of people will be happy to see

Capacity will be 48 at the low end to 84 on the high end per ride - that seems like a lot!

So will work on JP also commence them? Will they do the two projects at the same time?
I have also been wondering, but will King Kong be part of JP or a separate area?

Mini island, however will only be the ride most likely. I would consider it an extension to JP rather than its own full island, however you will feel as though you have been immersed into a new area. Paradox...

I'm excited to hear that they are almost ready to start building this, I doubt anything major happens before Diagon Alley's opening but still...exciting times.

A friend of mine told me the whole area was completely cleared this week. Fencing has been put up and it's ready to start!

Yup, I always imagined this was exactly what they are going for. A big vehicle capacity allows for longer periods between dispatches without fully sacrificing total ride capacity.

I think there are 7 scenes total (with 4a and 4b), but then again those might be "half scenes" as in the vehicle doesn't linger as long. Taking the average of those vehicle sizes and snowballing something like 90 seconds spent in each scene, you'd wind up with a ten minute ride with a capacity of ~3000 people.

This has also lead me to suddenly realize something about ride times. Please correct me because I feel like I'm forgetting stuff here, but Universal has a total of ONE ride in the whole resort that I'd classify as "long" - Disaster. The next best thing is Dudley at IOA, which only hits 7 minutes. Everything beyond that is actually a shorter experience than Little Mermaid at MK. Disney has well over a dozen rides that are longer than mermaid.

Really, Kong is a much needed attraction that fills that 'je ne sais quoi' we so often attribute to rides for the whole family. Universal used to have a lot more of these experiences in the studios side, but systematically ripped them all out.

I would love to be pleasantly surprised but I wouldn't imagine this ride, especially with just 7 scenes, to be longer than 5 minutes.

Its been a trend even at Disney to shorter rides - think of Epcot and what happened with Motion, Horizon and Imagination

Is the fencing viewable from the walkway (between the JP entrance and Thunder Falls)? Or is it only in the backstage area?

Either way, exciting times!
