The possibilities of a thrill version of Soarin has all the possibilities of being insanely intense. Every time I ride Soarin I think, "man, I'm glad this isn't a thrill ride because I would be scared."

Two reason FoP will make Soarin look like an Atari: Disney actually invested MORE money into it after the fact.

And it will include on ride showpieces....on ride.

I can imagine overhead and side animated figures and show pieces sliding into place during the ride. Think FJ but stories off the ground!

Soarin it won't be...

What if a really advanced AA was in the highly themed rock work/vegetation/water feature queue that gave the safety spiel/metaphysical lecture? That seems like something Disney would do.

I am liking some of the what ifs being stated here. Physical set pieces within the ride is not what I was expecting, so that would for sure beat my expectations and I already thought it would be way better than Soarin when it came to a lot of aspects.

I don't see how these random shots innthebdark are much different than what i mentioned...

Except that my comments were based on what disney has recently built and what they considered to be their high-end piece-de-resistance of immersive queues and world building.

"That's just mocking"

Yeah, well mine has a lot better chance of happening than yours does. If that says a lot of negative things it's not my fault, it's Disney's.

Do you 'think' there will be any in-theatre elements... mostly once the ride kicks off?

I had a dream about this last night, here are a couple of highlights
  • The boat ride was a visual masterpiece but boring as hell
  • The simulator was great but not a game changer, best part transitions
  • The visuals of the land from ground were great but not the best
  • Night in this land makes it the best theme park land to date..

One of my biggest complaints about Soarin' is how we just lift off the ground and boom they turn on the screens, its an awful transition into a ride.

What I'd love to see them do here is have physical sets on lifts (rocks, trees, etc.) in front of the screen. Then the projection starts with all of that blended in the foreground.

When the ride system then starts to lift up in parallel with the film projection the physical sets lower out of site aiding to the illusion we are taking flight.

Boom thanks for finally letting us take off Disney =)

I am pretty confident it won't do what Soarin does. It will be a totally different story line and with that will come much more immersive experience. How they do everything not sure, but I am pretty confident that most people will not even compare it to Soarin. The GP that is.

4? If that is true Capacity will be pretty good. AK in general is a pretty interesting park. I think the first 2 years lines will be crazy over there, but I think crowds will even out. While AK has less rides than most parks it has a ton of shows and things to do outside of rides and shows. So I have noticed the crowds disperse pretty good throughout the park allowing no lines to go crazy high. So 4 theaters would be awesome and keep that line manageable. I would love to know the capacity on both the new things though.

Yep, but I believe the theaters a re slightly smaller than the current Soarin ones. I'd expect the capacity to be slightly larger than Soarin with the new theater.

It is four. There has been permits filed with the layout of the building.
