"Supposedly" over budget. Rivers of Lights is rumored to be delayed not because of the technology, but they want to capitalize on the current success Jungle Book is having. About the Magic Bands, the guests love them and so does the CFO. Any new technology at first is going to have problems.

Sincerely, Rivers of Light isn't delayed because of capitalizing of TJB. As said; there is some HUGE technical problems with this show; and the fact that rumors have said of the shows quality being bad (as seen with last night), the show needs a serious re-work. In every aspect (besides seating..well, maybe more seating actually)

Instead of being a jerk and laughing at my comment why wont you explain what the case is.

I've heard for a while now that the foundation has been the problem and fixing it would require a lengthy closure.

Disney doesn't intend to ever fix the yeti.

What is their cost/benefit reasoning? Spend millions to fix a huge AA you see in the dark for 1 second and it may break again? Not happening from today's Disney.

I understand that but I dont think the issue is something that can be fixed overnight. I've heard/read that it had to do with the foundation.

At the end of the day, very few on here know the exact reasoning for why things occur at the parks so laughing people off is tasteless.

Because even their newest and flashiest resort they want to pour everything into isn't using any of the technology for it. MM+ is a one off for WDW that ran over budget, over promised and under delivered, and doesn't improve guest satisfaction at all.

The autonomous GPS of all the barges is the issue. Not concerns over the shows quality.

Back to the Avatar discussion. I think the land is over budget, but the land received a healthy infusion of cash to get the final go ahead from Cameron. The 500 million price tag was before the boat ride was plussed and moved to an opening day attraction.

It's definitely several hundred million over the final budget Disney and Cameron okay'd and around a billion now.

A major company doesn't just have a project go over budget like if it wasn't foreseen. You all make it look like Disney doesn't have people that are responsible for controlling and creating budgets. Before a plan is ever made, all these things are talked about and even the worst possible scenarios/outcomes are accounted for. The risk level, return on investment, etc are all looked at.

Your first statement is not true. I have a friend who has a friend pretty high up in creative. I don't really hang out with this friend anymore so I don't get inside information anymore. But about 3 years ago she talked about her friend going out to California to work with people out there to try and find a solution for the Yeti. So they do want it to be fixed, but as stated it is a foundation issue which is much more difficult to fix and cause a large closure.

As you stated and I agree there is not cost/benefit since fixing it won't bring in any more money and 90% of the people that ride it have zero clue it is broken. It is not obvious.

I don't see anyone doing that, just those questioning if it's actually an AA or not.

It'll be complicated I think. "Great looking at night, rides are ok, not much else to do" maybe?

You don't know what will be around the land in the non-ride areas though.

If I wasn't a Potter fan, I could easily describe similar about Diagon: "Beautiful area, fun ride, got some ice cream". Honestly that describes what I do most times and I'm a HUGE Potter fan.

It's not the IP, it's the execution. Diagon is pretty much the Pinnacle, but I also feel like it's a giant mall with a ride. If Avatar can truly transport you, the land alone becomes an attraction - just like Diagon.

Looking at the price tag and capacity issues at disney I kind of wish they would build a few "less themed" coasters with some of the money instead. I wouldn't have a problem with some fun re ride-able attractions that didn't break the bank, I would prefer this balance to the crazy rising ticket prices. There is enough to still sell disney as a premium product. Also the addition of limited capacity rides such as frozen and dmt seems ridiculous compared to one of these high capacity rides.

In that video they mention animals in the distance. Hopefully that's a small nod to just how interactive the land will be.

That's one item this land really has potential for is the natural interactive nature of the plants, animals etc.

I also saw a picture of what looks like the marauder leg =)

Maybe we bump into one of those as an AA on the river ride.....

I believe the AAs are all in the boat ride.

Except nearly EVERYONE has said the land will be cool.

It's still super dumb that they spent nearly a billion on an Avatar land.
