Which you have to believe that it had nothing to do with the location of Wet n' Wild being nearby. I do agree that on-site guests will be lured to VB because it's on-site and it's a Universal park. From the guest's eyes, I'm sure they didn't see Wet n' Wild as a Universal park.

Being on the other side of I4 was like it was a million miles away. We run into this same situation in the Pittsburgh area. We have so many areas divided by rivers. Even though there might be a bridge in a particular spot, people on one side of the bridge rarely venture across the bridge to patronize other businesses, even though the time is only a couple of minutes. They become psychological barriers as well as physical barriers. The other reason may be that Wet & Wild didn't have the best of looks or reputations. The slides may have been good but the park looked kind of sleazy from the outside.

Fair, which is the big sell of having properties on-site for both Disney and Universal.

By no means was Wet n' Wild even close to the quality of the other Orlando water parks, but you would think that the price point and relatively good quality of slides would reel in those Universal guests. I never had the opportunity of going to Wet n' Wild so I can only speak about the park as an outsider.

Never went either. It just wasn't very enticing looking after having been to Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Water World at BGW and even our local waterpark, Sand Castle (which is a second rate park but looks better from the outside than W&W). Wet & Wild turned into a locals park for the most part. I would imagine it had really low spending per guest ratios. Plus, tickets a AP's were so cheap it was like giving them away.

They're charging a lot for this park. I would think that even W&W sized crowds would be a win.

Yes, because it's just about guaranteed big numbers for spending per guest. That's what it's all about.

Totally agree. I'm really interested in the table service restaurant. They're going to really try for big money from that. Which I really hope ends up getting some amazing food and atmosphere.

Yes. It'll be interesting to see if they allow admission from the CBBR.

To have a table service restaurant in a water park is definitely a "neat" feature. I'll be curious to see how many guests it pulls in on a day-to-day basis. Still haven't wrapped my mind around this concept however, but here's to the food and atmosphere being good if I ever get a chance to try it.

No way. Logistics aside, they'll use the restaurant as leverage to get people to buy tickets.

It may not have the nice look of the other parks, but Wet N Wild had some of the best slides anywhere. Disco H2O, the Black Hole, Brain Wash, and the Blast were unlike anything else in Florida.

Yes, I've seen people saying that often on this board. Seems their slides had a good rep.

Let's talk tickets quick.

I've talked to a few people and heard about Aquatica's opening summer and I think I've formed an idea of UOR's game plan.

The opening summer for Aquatica was jammed constantly then fell off. I believe UOR wants to avoid this (and the logistical and GR headaches) and is doing three things:

1) Restricting sales to multiday tickets and packages to focus on tourists.

2) If daily capacity is not expected to be full one day full price tickets will be made avaiapable.

3) Come Dec 2017 and Jan 2018 a water park option on AP and water park level tickets will be offered based on projected capacity.

VB seems to be designed to keep guests off I Drive, reduce and remove "buy two get third" ticket deals, and extend stays at on site hotels. Once those goals are met and demand stabailizes I see daily ticket options popping up.

Is that a thought or an educated/informed guess? ;)

So, you're saying that it's a possibility there will likely be no day tickets available for the early months after opening?

I think since the park is going to stay open late, this will be a great way to really stretch this into an all day experience. Get dinner and let the kids get some last minute splashes in the wave pool before the show. Has it actually been confirmed that there's going to be a table service restaurant, however?

If it's an educated guess, you've got a very good education.

This is a really bold strategy. It will undoubtedly help with the capacity problems that Disney has with their water parks. They regularly are closed to admission from 10 AM to 4PM during peak seasons, with multiday tickets taking priority over day passes and season passes. Disney does have a hell of a lot more people staying onsite though.

...Oh, and that multi-day ticket only allows 1 day admission to VB. That's a given, though.

The strategy makes sense, so don't get me wrong, but still, building a park and it is just this exclusive something that can only be enjoyed by a select few ... granted Seaworld has this with Discovery Cove, but that is a different something. Like I said, I understand it though, people rush to what is new and I think VB will be very successful, so it is prudent, perhaps. What I wonder though, if the direction of VB is one of exclusiveness, then why close W&W? Also, if touting VB as this exclusive something and having higher prices for it, and then you discover it really is just a water park, could this cause bad press? Probably not, but I think there might be a lot of people who will also not be willing to be a premium price for VB, then, this probably is what Universal wants, as it keeps capacity under control. I am very interested to see how this will all work out.

You don't think 3 Park (Park to Park) multi-day passes will include the ability to go to VB every day ? I would think it would allow for all days and not just one day. Maybe I misinterpreted ? Or do we already have confirmation that's the case ? Sorry for the wall of questions here lol
