The fact that the 3DS was mentioned at all makes me think there'll be something somewhat notable. If all they're showing off is Sushi Striker, Dillon 3, and some Atlus games, they might as well have not bothered to include the 3DS at all. As much as Nintendo seems to have moved on from the 3DS, it wouldn't surprise me if there's just 1-2 excess projects they're waiting to throw out there before it truly dies.

The last time the 3DS was mentioned for a Direct it was to talk about Kirby’s Battle Royale for like a minute.

I mean in this Direct's announcement. The Nintendo Direct Mini was specifically mentioned as a Nintendo Direct for Switch titles, while this one is specifically mention that it will have Nintendo 3DS titles. So I doubt they'd mention that and only focus on 1-2 extremely niche titles.

That’s all they’ve got. Pikachu, Sushi Striker, and Dillon. They’ll probably mention some third party games too but the 3DS won’t be getting any more major games. The last big game from Nintendo was Ultra Sun & Moon. Just like Emerald was for GBA.

I am thinking that they are going to have one surprise for 3DS, but it will be nothing to walk home about happily.

I do think 3DS is numbered of it's days for release, and that I'm surprised that Sushi Striker isn't being moved to the Switch, considering that it's something that hasn't been seen in a while.

That said, I don't think Labo will be talked, but I don't rule out it having a Mini-Direct before the launch of Labo.

Got to play with the Labo...its so ****ing next level.

But still waiting for Animal Crossing, Professor Layton, Yokai Watch, and Pokemon. (Also would love Persona 6 in the style of Persona 5 on switch)

Edit:sorry for language but it truly is awesome

AC and Pokemon, yes. Layton has advanced to mobile (check it out on iOS, now it's his daughter) and who knows about Yokai watch.

And well Persona is... Persona. Never had a mainline game off of PS but I could see them justifying the game on Switch/PS4 (that is if they do a turn around like P3 to P4 and not P4 to P5).

Atlus put out a survey about 2 months ago asking particularly their japanese audience if they wanted a Persona game on Switch so there is hope.

I’ll keep holding out hope for some kind of Smash announcement. I’ve had the urge to play Smash for the longest time now. I traded in my Wii U and games so it’s been a while. I wanted to get the 3DS version but it’s still full price. Maybe I’ll pull the trigger if it appears one isn’t in the pipeline for Switch this year

Honest to god, thinking that they are just going to save Smash for E3, as that'd be something that'd spark huge headlines.

I do think Mario Maker gets announced tomorrow, as it can be something that could sell online units in my opinion, for the level builder, and if they can make it more robust and detailed; with even more stuff from Mario's past, that'd be huge for the Mario Maker franchise.

I’m going into this thing expecting the biggest possible new game surprise from Nintendo would be a formal reveal of Fire Emblem. We already know it exists and is coming this year. I think that’s a good expectation to set. The biggest blue moon surprise I would want to see is Metroid Prime Trilogy HD coming this year and a small confirmation that Prime 4 will be fully shown off at E3. My other expectations are DLC for Odyssey and Rabbids (moreso the latter than the former) and then more info on games we already know about. There will be no big 3DS reveal either.

Third party wise I’m going to go with what’s been rumored. Crash, South Park, Diablo, etc. Those aren’t E3 type announcements.

I honestly think Diablo is going to be saved for E3, as it can be rather large when you consider it'd be the first full on Blizzard title coming to Nintendo consoles, and that it's using one of Blizzard's most popular franchises, Diablo.

I do think Crash and maybe South Park could get announced, but if it had to be one or the other; it'd most likely be Crash. I can see Ubisoft announce SP on their own accord during SXSW/GDC, and it'd gain some media headlines.

I think if we are to get information of Rabbids DLC, we wouldn't of gotten the Donkey Kong reveal back at the Mini (memories), and that I do think Mario Odyssey works out better as it is something that people are clamoring about.

Could we see a second Mario+Rabbids expansion of a new area? Possibly, but I think they are going to focus on one at a time before going to another.

By Rabbids DLC I mean more info on DK and a release date. It’s supposed to come out in “spring.”

Nintendo hasn’t really given third parties a spotlight at E3 and even when Bethesda was announcing Wolfenstein 2 the Switch version wasn’t announced until a Direct. The third party games will be the big reveals of the Direct. The only third party port I could see with an E3 announcement would be something like GTA 5.

If I'm not mistaken, Rocket League is actually an outlier to the E3 third party announcement from Nintendo, as it was rumored before then, but not confirmed.

That said, I think the Eurogamer rumor indicated that Diablo III may not be announced until after E3, so it can be plausible that it may just be a no show for the time being, until they have a proper place to announce it.

As far as a GTAV port, color me in the camp that believes that ship has passed, and that I don't see Rockstar able to port it properly for Switch.

They could play a Champions Ballad, and release it on the day of the E3 direct (as it is rumored originally for a June release).

If the ship has sailed on GTA then Rockstar and Take Two are run by imbeciles. The game would sell gangbusters and since it’s a 7th gen game there’s absolutely no excuse of “we can’t get it to run properly.” Bull:poop:. The Switch is more than capable of running any PS3/360 game. The game has also sold so many copies on other platforms already that getting a Switch version running and released would make barely a dent even if it “bombed.”

I mean more in how much is in the game itself, graphically and Technically, it should be far more than what LA Noire tried to do before..

This is my pessimistic side coming in, but I just think that GTAV has more variables that would make it a challenge, as opposed to what they did for LA Noire.

I would be estatic if they got it to the Switch, but I feel more doubtful of that as opposed to other opportunities for Nintendo Switch to have.

I do think that for tomorrow, the locks are Bethesda with Wolfenstein 2, Activision with Crash, and something from one of 2Ks other divisions like Gearbox, or Ubisoft and with Steep (as that remarkably as far as I understand, has not gotten an update of it's status in a while).

Do we even know if 3DS is having a version of Mario Tennis Aces? Because I thought the distinction is very much clear on that title being Switch exclusive.

That said, to bring back the original tweet.

Edit: Not going to post it here, but boxart for Sushi Striker has been leaked, and it's coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Lol. One of the last 3DS games and Nintendo lost confidence in keeping it exclusive :lmao:

I don’t blame them. New 3DS games last year didn’t sell all that well either. It’s all about that Switch hype. People buying a 3DS now are just looking for a cheap gaming device and cheap games.

Predictions:

-Starts off with the minimal 3DS stuff. Detective Pikachu transitioning into Sushi Strikers (5 minutes)
-Sushi Strikers Switch announced as a transition into Switch stuff (<1 minute)
- Mario Tennis + a release date (5 minutes)
-Hyrule Warriors trailer + release date (2 minutes)
-Yoshi trailer + release date (2 minutes)
-Fire Emblem reveal+release date (7 minutes)
-Some indies (2 minutes)
-3rd party big game reveal (2 minutes)
-1-2 big trailer releases (remaining time)

I think Smash will definitely get announced
