So I heard that Universal hosted an "Excellence in Leadership" event for managers at the EU site the other day. Apparently the big takeaway was the smell of the sewage plant was terrible...

Once again, I hope they really have a plan for dealing with that.

Honestly my biggest worry for the park. Maybe will be less of an issue when it’s built up more?

When I was having my custom house built, we had to rent for a year after having sold the previous home. The rental was about a block away from the sewage plant. The chemical smell was pervasive, constant, and not very
very nice, though it didn't have the type of smell you'd expect. But it certainly was not something you'd want to experience in a theme park. That said, in the past, we had an IU forum member who was a high level executive in
a business that built and modified sewage plants. He unequivocally stated on numerous postings that there are now chemicals and procedures available that have the ability to correct those uncomfortable smells. So that is probably
on a future agenda.

It does seem oddly short

A few things I'm not sure about

1. Does it come to a full stop, play a show scene, then do the swing launch

2. Does it go backward then just forward over the hill or backward, forward, backward, forward over the hill (Ice Breaker style)

Also when does the spinning start

These would add some time and interest to the ride length

It's a family coaster like Nuthouse, so IMHO the length is fine. There's a ton of question we sill have and everyone is making assumptions, including me. I'm remembering the first Hagrid vids that had caves and spiders...

That, and did they ever come up with a solution for the toxic radiation from Lockheed that was apparently all over the land? I’d love to have more info on that before planning a trip…

As far as the Monsters coaster, I think it’s a good length. Wouldn’t be good as a coaster in a parking lot but with a possible show scene, the spinning, and all the scenery around it I think the totality of the experience will be solid.

If the Monsters coaster is similar in pacing and ride time to the Amusement Insider video, then it seems fine for a family coaster. The real question is what (if anything) is in the shed? The Wolfman? Dracula? Earl the Squirrel? Time will tell.

You mean a Kuka arm e-ticket in a castle and a well themed complimentary family coaster in one land

It will never work

That's what Universal spent a full year doing before grading began. I am not worried.

They’ll only make their money back if they create a great beer to sell like crazy.

(Which I want for this land badly)

Toxic radiation....Guests walk into Monsters land. Guests exiting Monsters land all look like the Hulk. Sounds like a nefarious Disney plot. :oO:....all kidding aside, I'd guess tests have already been performed on that land before the
money was approved for land purchase and park building.

Years were spent cleaning the land. And it got the all clear from the EPA. I’ve seen some of the soil sample results documents from the last analysis done before construction and it’s all good. An interesting footnote in the history of this park though.

The hotel's central tower is actually a giant Febreze silo.

As for the coaster, assuming it's a swing launch, I think that's a very distinctive element both visually and as a rider, especially if effects are timed to each launch. I think it would be long enough, especially when compared to Hipogriff or Ice Breaker.

A little more background, but the land cleanup started in the late 1990s, and was a joint effort between Universal, the EPA, and the county. It's funny because over the nearly next two decades the land would be cleaned, just as Universal set the guidance for, even though it would no longer be owned by the company. Then, shortly after re-purchasing the land back, cleaning was completed and the area was finally cleared for construction.

Weirdly the same company started and completed the cleanup on the land it briefly did not own but then did again.

As far as I know the contamination was spilled fuel from weapons testing-- there was a "Pershing Plume" shown on one of the maps I saw at one point. Basically rocket fuel in the soil which is terrible, but not radioactive. Between remediation of the soil and adding several feet of fill on top of the existing land should seal any remaining contamination from causing issues.

Pershing missiles were developed by Martin Marietta (before it was Lockheed Martin): MGM-31 Pershing - Wikipedia
