Obviously I'm happy with the win and Messi's goal was beautiful, but geez... that match was like watching paint dry... Argentina needs to work on the teamwork, not just rely on Messi driving the ball, tighten up on those passes, and just go harder overall.

Now looking forward to USA's match tomorrow afternoon!

BTW, in case anyone is interested: https://blog.universalorlando.com/visiting-us/universal-orlando-gets-football-fever/

I might be watching the Argentina vs Iran match at Universal next Saturday, work permitting...

Australia are probably the weakest team in the tournament.

The lowest ranked team by a long shot put into the group of death. Also doesn't help that the squad is almost completely filled with young and inexperienced players. The whole country is just glad they are there as they are ranked 62nd and there are only 32 teams in the cup. Our team was just happy with how they have played so far and haven't gotten smashed yet.

RVP could be a shock player this World Cup. He's coming into it on the back of a poor season by his standards. But that header was crazy good.

Will be interesting to see how England perform today. Call me mad but I think we will win our group.

You're mad.

I'm still picking Spain to make the final.

I agree, seems the coach is very defense minded and plays it too careful, play was much more interesting under Maradonna.

No goaless games, no draws and loads of goals too, it has been a great start to the tournament.

Looking forward to Germany V Portugal this afternoon, a classic match on paper and some world class players on the pitch, lets see if it lives up to the hype.

Good luck to USA hope they do well, I won't be watching this game though as it is on at 11pm BST and I am up at 4am for a 15 hour shift :saw:

Enjoy the game guys

Holding on to the hope that 'Murica will be able to pull it out even though their coach pretty much has no hope that they'll make it past the group rounds.

Exactly what we needed to happen for the USA today happened, Germany destroyed Portugal and USA beat Ghana. All we need to do now is tie or beat Portugal, and whatever happens with Germany happens, and we should get to the round of 16 based on point differential.

I still think Portugal will beat America. Even with 3 starters out, Ronaldo will be more fit and the team will want to avenge their awful performance against Germany. Ghana dominated the US, yet did not have enough quality when it mattered. It now looks even more ridiculous that Klinsman has not included Donovan, as an untested 23 year old has to take the position as the main forward after Altidore's injury.

Will be interesting to see how Brazil do tomorrow against Mexico. I am going with a 2-0 win with a Neymar masterclass.

Talk about a potentially fantastic game ruined by one stupid individual. Although anybody who watches Spanish football should know to expect the worst/dumbest **** from Pepe

Great result for the USA in a late late show last night, congratulations on your win.

Germany V Portugal was a bit of a let down, totally spoilt as a contest by the theatricals of Muller and the stupidity of Pepe, such a shame. Over reacting to try and get a player red or yellow carded is a part of the game I despise, I wish Fifa would clamp down on it, that and players surrounding the ref in protest annoy the hell out of me, you are grown men FFS. No excuses for Pepe though, stupid, just stupid.

Iran and Nigeria gave us our first draw and goaless game, seems like I spoke to soon yesterday.

Just catching up on the Belgium game, not the side I was expecting to see as many have tipped them as a good outside bet. As I watch they have just scored an equaliser wonder if they have what it takes to complete the victory.

Brazil come out tonight for their second match, V mexico. Last timeout I felt the ref had a big say in the result, hope to see a more fluid attacking Brazil tonight.

That just leaves Russia V South Korea in the late kick off and the only 2 sides not to have featured in the tournament so far, again I will miss this game as bed will be calling but I am going to stick my neck out and predict a scoring draw. Look out for Park Chu-yung and Lee Chung-yong for Korea both have played in the premier league. Russia are by no means the side they used to be but will be interesting to see how Fabio Capello (Englands ex Coach) has got them playing.

As I finish typing Belgium have taken the lead seems like the may well have what it takes. Took time for them to get going but hey they all count, hard luck for Algeria.

Enjoy the football everyone

Brazil need to step it up if they want to go farther than the quarterfinals in this tournament. They looked really average, and really need a potent number 9 who can put away some of their chances. Ochoa did make some fantastic saves, but Brazil should have won that game. It would be disappointing if they played the entire tournament the way they have done so far.

Fred is horrific. So, so lazy. I don't understand why Scolari continues to play him.
