Love love LOVE this tribute store. Was uncontrollably smiling the entire time I was in there. So many fun nods and the detail is fantastic.

Yea - it's back to its normal route this year. Last year, they went in the opposite direction due to "construction plans around certain areas".

I went first day of 2020, right before covid hit. It was very cold, gray sky's, and lots of cold rain. But guess what. It was still lots of fun. Mardi Gras is that good. It transcends bad weather even. Fortunately, the rain stopped long enough to run the parade. And 'The Roots' put on a pretty damn good concert.

Been there when it was 90 degrees and humid, been there when I needed a winter coat and hat. Every time the parade performers bring 100%. It really is the most consistently great thing Universal does.

Alene and I are counting the days until we get there. It was the first thing she mentioned when she woke up today.

Parade is absolutely amazing as always. The new floats and costumes look fabulous, extraordinarily high energy from the cast and crew, and a new addition that just adds even more charm to a parade already full of it:

THE MARCHING BAND NOW WALKS WITH THE OPENING DANCERS AND PLAYS EACH THEME!

I'm looking to try the food at Mardi Gras for the first time (I've been to Mardi Gras at Universal multiple times before in years past but I've never tried any of the food) and was curious to get some recommendations. What are some must try foods I should check out?

The pinchos from PR were at the top of everyone I talked to's list.

Our TP folks thought the food was "mostly horrible" with a few stand outs. Disappointed since just a few years ago the food was among the best for an Orlando festival.

I find the food offerings to be less adventurous, in a good way. A lot more I was excited to try overall and now certain booths won't be ignored completely.

Food Ops was the biggest hurdle for opening day, slow and unenthusiastic. Had someone with their back turned to me for like 5 minutes while I waited for them to check my receipt.

Everything I personally had yesterday was great. Food booths were busy but that meant the food coming out was actually fresh. I tried the Quesabirria (extremely good but a small portion for the price), Spicy Szechuan Chicken Bites (they actually are really spicy!), and the Beignets, of course. Also had a few drinks that were all great, the cake cocktail is one of the most interesting drinks they've done in awhile.

Just a heads up if anyone's trying to do the Virtual Line for Mardi Gras float riding: they updated the system this year and now if you want to do it with a group, you need to have a travel party set up in the app with each person's ticket/pass linked to just one person's account. Otherwise it will only let you choose yourself as a party of one and everyone will have to try to get their own spot.

Tribute store was fantastic. Possibly the best one yet at this location.

I know Saturday was the first day of the event, but boy were they not prepared. I can completely understand the Mardi Gras booth F&B ops to be hampered by crowds, but other locations like Minion Cafe were quoting hour long waits for food. Doesn't look good for post-Epic ops. (I hope I'm wrong)
