Booked for March 1-March 13. Hoping traveling weather holds up. It's been a tough winter here. I didn't originally plan to go for Mardi Gras, but the ugly weather gave me a spur of the moment impulse. So now I have 3 Universal vacations in 2026 for a total of 7 weeks...on the heels of the 2025 Nov. 17 nights. My wife, Alene, is really psyched. She loved Mardi Gras in 2023.
So far, this looks like they've gotten back to the booth number from 2023. That's good. I have to say, Universal does a great job on Mardi Gras, from the parks, to CityWalk (Pat O'Briens/Marleys/Cursed Coconut), to the hotels. A complete package.

Watching the parade... Three floats went by with no people, not sure what happened there

It seemed like fewer floats overall tonight. Last year there were twelve floats and tonight I think the count was eight.

Technical difficulties last night led to a condensed version.

I get safety first, and I appreciate the effort to get some sort of parade out there opening night. Also they tried to compensate a bit by giving each stilt-walker a couple packs of beads to carry. and they were doing their best to appease kids. I assume they'll also be refunding money to those who paid to ride and couldn't.

But come on, this isn't a first-of-its-kind roller coaster less than a year old. After decades, maintaining the floats from year to year should be old hat by now. It doesn't instill me with confidence about anything Universal does at this point.

Another downside this year, the souvenir cup is cheaper (thinner/less plastic) and smaller. I did a pour test and we lose about an ounce of liquid.

Thanks for the heads up. That's the Saturday we'll probably hang in the area for a few songs.....I just told Alene. She started dancing in the Family Room when I told her. She loves the Marleys, and just watched a concert with Ziggy the other day on PBS. And of course, we love Marleys at CityWalk.

Watched the parade tonight. Two things.

1. Still a condensed version. I think they're missing 2 now (King & Queen and French Quarter) but at least all other floats had beadthrowers.

2. People don't know how to act.

From my own understanding, they made adjustments to the pre-existing floats to allow more people to ride them, and then they were disapproved for use after a safety inspection. Maybe we'll see a swift recovery ... but just as likely is that it might take a moment to get everything reapproved.

Yes, it did change. Though I vaguely remember them changing it last year for the 30th celebration. But it was def a change in the last year or two.
