Hey everyone, Reddit communities and other places are starting to Ban Twitter Links and even photos.

I have no idea if that would be too much for here but I would support it after what the owner did on Tuesday.

Scott and other Theme park insiders are on Bluesky, so we do have another site to use. So let me know what you all think

I think it's dumb to tell people what sites they can link from. It's an attempt to bring politics into a place that has no need to have politics discussed.

I'm just one guy but I think the CEO doing a sieg heil on national television goes way beyond politics. I stay away from X links where possible and wouldn't mind a mandate to stick with screenshots.

Stay away from X links. The owner is doing Nazi salutes. Can we even trust information posted there?

In general, we have a large base here and will know things that get posted to X as news. So discussions can still easily be had. Bluesky is also growing, and Instagram links work as well. I know its complicated matter, I know. I do hope IU gets ahead of things and bans X links as well or at least begins strongly encouraging other platforms to link in the meantime.

I think it’s flat silly that a theme park forum brings politics into a discussion- particularly when the country is literally split in half. I read here to escape the bullsh of normal life and to enjoy the opinions of other theme park enthusiasts; not to be dragged into mundane national political reminders.

And I find it audacious to even mention it. But it’s @Brian G.’s show, so it’s up to him who he wants to make feel alienated or not.

And just for clarity, the CEO of X is actually Linda Yaccarino of NBC/Universal fame.

I don't think it's political to say that someone doing a Nazi salute on national TV is bad, and I think most people would agree that it's bad regardless of how they voted. If someone genuinely feels alienated by that statement, then I'm not really sure I want them on this forum to begin with?

It’s a tricky matter but, for now, we’re going to keep things as is - but yes, we strongly encourage other channels to be shared and will be keeping an eye on any further happenings.

I respect that this is a lot for this forum possibly, I do, Brian. If you feel alienated by banning Nazi salutes idk what to say.

Regardless, it does suck this impacts a theme park forum. It just does. All the love to everyone on here.

Because of this response, exactly, is why it shouldn’t matter.

There are plenty of videos of other people and politicians such as Tim Walz doing it and plenty have argued it wasn’t a “nazi salute”. Some have said it is. Others like the Anti-Defamation league, have said it wasn’t. I tend to think it wasn’t. The guy has Asperger’s and was flipping around animated on that stage like a lunatic.

Much more concerning would arguably be the nazi jokes he made afterwards in his mocking of people bringing it up. But again- that’s all political. It was offensive to me but I’m sure it wasn’t to tens of millions of Americans.

And threads? Owned by Zuckerberg. Ok. I’m sure he’ll never do or say anything offensive. Oh, wait…

And most importantly, offensive to whom? Again- the country is divided in half. Not 10%. Half.

Or… how about we just be adults and link what we want and not let some stupid name of a company bother us. I think we can all agree that the most important name to care about is what the name of the ride that will replace fast and the furious will be.

I understand your point about Zuckerberg but I think the crucial difference at play right now is that for as embarrassing as he is, he did not do a nazi salute on national TV, nor did he subsequently make a series of holocaust puns.

I mean, I'm neither Jewish, nor German, so I have very little skin in the Nazi discussion

But when the leader of Israel said he's being smeared.....

But this is just another thing where someone takes anything they can, exaggerates its, and twists it to fit their political slant. Both sides do it and its a big part of the reason this country is so divided.

Well, Owner trumps CEO and the owner just did two sieg heils on stage. X is a manipulated platform and has been for years now. Bluesky is literally the old Twitter we all knew and loved right down to the scrolling and visuals etc.

And I and many other disagree that he made a Nazi salute. He has stated he hasn’t, so it’s by no means “confirmed”.

And since I guess we’re doing this, I’ll explain why I don’t think he did. And it’s simply because he turns around and does it again but his palm is up like a wave. So his palm is up to a crowd higher than him (just like walz did-identically) and down to a crowd lower than him.

And I personally did find the holocaust puns offensive. But I’m sure others found zucks rollback of his hate policy much more offensive.

My point is- who determines which is more offensive and tolerated. It’s unfair of us to put that at Brian’s feet, IMO. And political discussions like this certainly aren’t fair to him.

We are adults. Link what you feel is appropriate and we can parse out the rest, ya know?

I understand many are eager to move away from X, and they are justified in doing so, but I don't feel that the alternatives are well developed enough that they can suitably replace the use of any X links for the time being. While some major theme park accounts have transitioned to BlueSky, many have not. Obviously, while many have a desire to move away from the platform, I understand there is some skepticism about BlueSky working as a long-term replacement. While it does have the potential to be the next "Twitter", it could also follow in the footsteps of Threads and Mastodon, where it may not be able to sustain engagement over a long period of time.

While I certainly don't blame anyone for leaving X, it's important to consider many users have built up a following over the course of many years, and there's no certainty that their audience will follow them. Five Fires, whose construction photos are frequently posted here, among others in this community, have stated they don't have any intent of moving off X, and choosing to stay isn't an endorsement of who owns the site. While BlueSky is slowly growing, it only has a fraction of the users that X has, including the theme park community. As this is the case, it's probably best to continue allowing the use of links to that site for now.

Regardless of whether one is Jewish or German, you absolutely should be concerned about and reject the proliferation of Nazi rhetoric in any organization or system. Period. That is not up for debate, and I have to admit I am rattled by some of the comments here.
