I think you're taking it too serious. He has killed, and, well, you're dismissing it because you didn't like the comic, or you don't like the Burton films. It has happened. And since DC Studios is making it, they have to okay it, I don't see it as a big deal. They have alt universes with different rules, etc.

I have no idea what happens in BvsS. I have not seen it. I guess it's just not for everyone.

Yeah, true. It's not for everyone. It's like for 33% of critics. Kind of.

Definitely not for me.

Also. Important to note that people don't dislike it because of its interpretation of the mythos. People dislike because it's a mess. And not even a fun mess. It's a drag.

It's looking like I'll wait for this on blu ray or hopefully watch it on the plane to Orlando.

He's been batman for like 20 years and this is post Robin's death. I like the idea of a slightly broken batman due to those circumstances. But that's just me. More than anything, it's just a movie guys. I don't think it's that big of deal. Eat some popcorn, watch explosions and get away from the real world for a couple hours. Maybe I'm crazy...

Well if I'm paying $20+ for a movie that's been on the hype meter for years.... I expect better.

Yes, I saw it. Still digesting it. 6.5 right now but I'm being generous.

If it was fun and bad I'd be happy. But a drag? Pass. Hell I was entertained by Sucker Punch which was like watching a trainwreck. Broody, dark, self-serious is not fun.

I do grades. As a grade I'd give it a C.

Some partial minor spoilers:

First, the Cons!

I liked the character of Lex Luthor, just feel that Eisenberg wasn't right for it (SHOCKER). If they had someone with a little more gravitas, his sociopathic character would have landed better. Also too convenient how he knew certain things.

Superman was awful. I'm pro-Batman to begin with; but with how Supes was portrayed, it was almost as if they wanted the audience to root for Batman during the fight.

Could have done without the dream stuff. Just bloated the run time with what I felt wasn't very key to the development of the eventual clash.

Too dramatic for my tastes. When the action happened, it was fine, but with this being the showdown that everyone has been clamoring for (or at least team-up) it took too long to get there and the team-up was just a little forced.

Obviously, the 2nd trailer impacted the money shot of them 3 finally on screen. If Doomsday would have been kept a secret, I feel it could have landed better.

I don't think we needed another Wayne parents dying scene.

Haven't particularly cared for the casting as Ezra Miller and his small cameo didn't do any favors. With Gustin doing such a great job on the show, when I see Ezra, it just doesn't scream Flash.

Pros:

Wonder Woman. She had minimal screen time, but she had your attention when she was involved. Especially during the final fight.

I really love this incarnation of Batman. He was brutal, good amount of dark but not overly brooding. The relationship with Alfred wasn't greatly established, but looks to be a positive when they finally get a solo movie. The fighting/gadget using was probably the best of the Batmans, but sucked it was pretty minimal screen time. I definitely want to see more. I left the theater not caring about the DCU, but love to see where they go with Batman.

Considering WB wanted this to be the big launching pad for TJL, that is a huge problem. They're hoping everyones hyped for the DCU, not just one character.

I bet after this weekend they are going to reexamine certain things going forward (i.e. Maybe not have Snyder behind the lens)

Visually striking movie--probably a dozen scenes look like Alex Ross panels come to life, and [spoilery creatures] are practically 3-D George Perez art. Action sequences work well.

I really liked Gadot as Wonder Woman, even if she just has an extended cameo. Affleck was fine as Batman, although I'm not in the "best ever" camp. I even liked Cavil as Superman--he just felt like he had limited screentime in his own movie. I'm up in the air about Eisenberg's Lex. Not a fan of making him an internet wunderkind, but given he had to play in that box, I think he did alright. Personal theory: this is his take on Shawn from Napster, trying to demystify the cool kid vibe Justin Timberlake gave him.

Editing is the worst. And at least three dream sequences setting up JLA don't help. I suspect few years down the road a "fan cut" of this movie will make it much better. There are some major plot holes in hindsight, but nothing that derailed the movie for me.

As I said on Twitter, feels like this year's flawed but watchable movie critics just had it out for. Compare to Lone Ranger, Hangover 2, John Carter. There's one every year critics just dogpile for no discernible reason, feels like it's WB's turn now.

I agree that anything Superman was the worst in this. Clark, Lois, Lex, DP sucked the life out of the momentum and the editing killed it for good. To be honest, I prefer Lone Ranger and John Carter. Like I said before, I can do dumb fun. But you'd better actually be fun...

Oh boy. Where to begin.

I went in thinking that bad characterization would be my issue with this film.

That was before the nonsensical editing, grade school pontificating, and flat out BORING movie started. I quite literally got lost in this movie and not in a good way. Scenes change from night to day and back to the same night scene, leaving you scrambling to catch up before the next nonsensical cut. No character has clear motivation, the movie just has them doing stuff it needs them to do to set up the next worthless "tension" moment. It ignores people's powers. It has Batman making some of the DUMBEST decisions ever. Hilariously bad tactical moves, not to mention the biggest WTF since Pa Kent committed suicide by tornado.

The action was also incredibly hard to follow. Lighting the Batman v Superman fight with a strobe light was a brave choice. The Doomsday fight was CG rag dolls set against a black and orange back ground.

Wonder Woman is basically the only good thing I can say about the movie. And even then, she's completely inconsequential to the story.

I'm gonna write a full review tomorrow. But man that is a bad movie.

Also, considering how much this Batman kills people, how in the hell is Joker still around?

Pretty much sumarizes my thoughts on the move. A lot of stuff I liked and a lot of stuff I didn't like. My biggest issue is there was so many cool things that would have been awesome if they have just done things a little differently. I would give it an 8/10.

Another thing:

"You're mom's name is Martha, too?

Sorry for trying to kill you. I'll go save her.

No one in this movie operates at an intelligence point above a toddler. Superman goes to convince Batman that he needs his help...and then promptly attacks him and doesn't bring up that he needs his help again until right before Batman is going to kill him.

Superman, who also can hear Lois from anywhere in the world when she's in trouble doesn't seem to care that his mom is getting kidnapped.

Batman, who's beef with Superman exists because he had a huge fight in a city, leads Doomsday back to Gotham off an empty island...because reasons. Yea, yea, they say that part of town is "uninhabited", but he's still leading the creature closer to a population center.

Oh, and Lois almost dies in a way just as dumb as Pa Kent when she throws the spear into the convenient water pit (for no reason), minutes before she decides she needs it.

Goodness, I can't believe how many of you went out and saw this last night.

For me, I won't even think about going to a theater and paying for a DC movie until they can prove to me they can actually do something good outside of the Christian Bale Batman trilogy.

I mean. It's still Batman vs Superman

Was hoping critics were being harsh but they were pretty justified for the most part.

It's Batman v Superman, yes. But me, i've never been a big Superman guy, nothing interesting about him really.

I'll wait until Cap v. Iron Man (Avengers 2.5?)
