O.M.G. I just saw a decent POV that showcased most of the ride. Holy hell...
Scared Penguin GIF

I'm gonna need a big screen movie, a TV series & this ride fast-tracked to open at USH by next week.

If Dinosaur is too dark to hide all the animatronic supports and backstage/unthemed walls, then yes, Unchained is too bright.

Honestly, taking the LED walls down 10 or 15% may do it *some* good… but then you’d have to adjust the AA lighting and it’s a snowball effect.

I’d rather they attempt to hide some more seams than make it so dark like Dinosaur there’s nothing to see.

Just a heads up, there are more extensive leaks floating around that appear to show most of the ride.

I think Dinosaur is lit exactly how it needs to be, so this does not put me at ease!

But I guess the gulf between "I noticed everything!" and "I didn't notice anything!" reactions gives me some hope Universal is actively testing and adjusting things. Right? Maybe? Please?

We're still a whole month and a half away from opening and I've been told even today and yesterday some things were different from Thursday's rides, so they are very much actively adjusting things. I have hope it'll be perfected by opening.

I believe it. I'm sure the focus is to get the ride reliable most of the day, every day. Scenery adjustments are a secondary priority at the moment I would think.

Actually... its not. The show lighting for "Countdown to Extinction" vs "Dinosaur" (especially the later years) was tweaked to attempt being more family friendly due to the (underrated) film.

Darkness decreased the visibility in Dinos to make it less intense (because obviously kids aren't afraid of the dark, right? RIGHT!?). The original show lighting was great & nothing was broken too.

I think this is the most important point. Whether I agree or not with this review isn’t important. It’s putting out a review for a park that is still under TM technical rehearsals. First thoughts would be more apropos. IMO

Honestly don't remember. I have a TM discount so all together it was like 30 something I believe. But 17ish doesn't sound far off.

I really dislike the size of Frankenstein on the graphics in comparison to the other monsters (+ Victoria). Wish they created a better image featuring all the monsters

As for the wallet, I kinda want it. If I remember correctly, there is a Dark Universe wallet as well with the lightning design.

Yea. That's it. Okay, now I remember why I was turned off by it.. wasn't a fan of the zipper-wallet style choice.

Still want that preview merch blanket though lol

I will say, while of course it could just be a lighting difference on the camera, I watched the leaked POV and already one of the unthemed walls seemed to be covered much more, as well as some new projection mapping effects on the first Drac (the cape never appeared in any of my rides).

Also, just need to get this out there, something Unchained does exceptionally well and better than FJ is the feeling that you're the only one experiencing the events of the ride, except for the very beginning, when it actually makes sense since everyone is still on a normal tour at that point. When everything kicks in though, never once did I see any other ride vehicle, I was fully immersed in us being the only ones experiencing this chain of events, which especially for it being an always-moving ride (and ESPECIALLY with what happens in some of these scenes), is extremely impressive.

I read the review (before I caught up on the last couple dozen posts of the thread) and BlogMickey does state very fairly these are early thoughts and a review in progress and some may change. It felt like very even handed coverage and nothing felt like a hit piece.

I will always retain the belief that good faith criticism is essential to progress. If people are dismissing this because of the source, they are incorrect. I also don't think it's wrong to publish feedback about the park in its current form. Just like a video game beta, you allow theme park rehearsals explicitly for the purpose of feedback and criticism on a product that is fairly feature complete but needs polish to reach the final version. This is especially important because "They are fixing it" is NOT the same as "It is fixed" (and anyone who's ever attended a Disney park knows that). Universal may tweak up to opening day and it may be better or worse, but the issues should be pointed out so that they can be addressed. If Universal didn't want major bloggers to attend, they'd be checking IDs, confiscating phones, and having people sign ironclad NDAs like a pre-release movie.

BlogMickey's Monsters Unchained review says...
... that many scenes are way too brightly-lit, exposing elements that shouldn't be visible (AA infrastructure, back-of-house areas, ceilings).

Was that anyone else's experience, or did BlogMickey perhaps just get a bad ride with the evac lights on, or something?

I was able to see below in what seemed to be the track/maintenance area. HOWEVER I think it was because it was well lit as if they were active down there as I saw some people.

Now, the entire queue/pre-show experience. I love how they seemed to emphasise this as much as the attraction! I waited like mins to an hour but I did not feel like it. The constant flow of moving, added that with the preshows made this a masterclass of what a dark ride should be. I can only imagine how the ministry ride will be from just walking that queue.
