I didn't like the ride either... I am not even shy to say that Simpsons is better, and I hate Simpsons....

You and I both share that same exact thought. I got a better seat today and it made the ride a slight bit more enjoyable since I wasn't at an odd viewing angle where it was more intriguing to watch the hydraulics of the other vehicles in action. On the other hand, Super Silly Fun Land is very impressive and a job well done.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong. The theming outside it's amazing... the ride itself is average

The 3D in Minion Mayhem makes it a better experience in my opinion.

Also, due to low demand today, they deactivated the first row of transformation pods in Theater A. Thought that was interesting.

Just a personall question but Would there be a possibilte of having a video of the line video, like how Transformers was. Its a interesting question but yea, And on the Simpsons VS DMMM. It goes to Minions due to its kinda better on how it plays out.

3D is all the rage now. With bland, dull visuals and no 3D effects, Simpsons is a little behind the times at this point.

It's also nowhere near as smooth and fluid as Minion Mayhem. After 6 years of operating, you'd think they'd have done some sort of extensive refurbishment at this point.

Simpsons needs a HUGE refurbishment. Update the hydraulics, update the projectors to 4K per projector (there are 4 of them per screen), clean up the queue and add more details to the "outdoor" part of the queue (before the preshow) to make it look more different than the Institute of Future Technology. Right now, the dusty 1993 era air vents and architecture is unbelievably apparent, bur slapped with more color. Despicable Me did a better job of getting rid of the look of its previous "tenant". I really wish they'd cover the Dome screens better. Right now it's two big boxes with Krusty in the middle and some cut outs on top.

However, I prefer the giant size of the Omnimax screen than DM's high quality 3D. Cuz Simpsons RIDE experience is more immersive. It's immersive with DM if you have the perfect seat towards the front. It's more of a hit or miss than Simpsons.

Although I prefer the themeing, characters and story of DM.

I don't wish to go off-topic here, but I have a theory about the Simpsons Ride that may blow your minds. It may be why the Simpsons was so attractive in financially to GE in the first place:

I think the ride itself was meant to be a joke in and of itself. Here's what I mean: Krusty has always been about being greedy and cheap. That's who he was. I think they cheaply redid the ride from BttF to Simpsons the way it was just because that's the way it's supposed to look: the way Krusty would have done it. The joke was he took the Institute of Future Technology and cheaply retrofitted it into a low-grade amusement park. It was obviously meant to lampoon the rides and routines we know and love at theme parks and the ride itself was meant as a parody to acknowledge that.

I also think Krusty has become a voyeuristic character representing the greed and cheapness that was the head of GE, doing things cheaply and whatever is more cost-efficient...or it could also be that taking a cinema class has caused me to think too much about this stuff.

^ that's a fantastic theory, and one that very accurately lampoons Universal's previous owners and way of doing things for a while.

However, despite how "on the cheap" Krustyland was hypothetically made, if you look at the Krustyland park map and see Krustyland in the ride footage, it's actually themed pretty well. Most things are theme park rip offs or ridiculous, but Krusty still did a damn good job at theming most of the park and rides and he has lots of dark rides and the park has a great design. It's a parody but it still looks like a fun park! Most of Krustyland ironically looks better than USH...and USH's depiction of Krustyland is cheaper than it is in the footage.

So...that's kinda sad. Universal was CHEAPER than Krusty! Ouch! Haha.

To bring this back to Despicable Me, I'm still super proud of USH for the absolutely fantastic facade and most of SSFL! I just wish the attention to detail would've carried over into making the ride technology more advanced and the queue was finished...

Caught a commercial for Minion Mayhem on my break at work today (I don't have cable so this was my first time seeing it)... it was really nice to see a commercial that was actually filmed at the park (they featured minions interacting with the neon USH sign and Gru's neighborhood). I'm still excited to get out here in the next couple months and catch up.

I thought the same thing too. A very "Disney" commercial. I liked it, heck of a lot better than Kong and Transformers.

The only thing that I thought was a little odd about the commercial was the family.

You'd think they would have a young family of four instead of a older family of three for a ride aimed at young children.

It's definitely a nice turn from their usual Summer of Survival (aka doom and gloom) promotional efforts.

Count me as a fan.

I like the commercial. Very cute. But I agree, they should've showed more young kids in the commercial and they should've advertised SSFL and Silly Swirly as well. I also hated the placement inaccuracies in the commercial of the different USH icons or locations/viewpoints. But that's cuz I'm a nitpicky USH fan...lol

SSFL would've been an extremely smart addition. I assume this was filmed before the water play area was officially open, but showing brief clips of Silly Swirly and the carnival games would really entice kids.

It would've helped get the "family friendly addition" point across much better. It's a good commercial by Universal standards, especially USH, but they dropped the ball a bit.

Hard to believe they did those style of commercials for four straight summers.

I hope they don't bring them back next year with F&F opening.

"Summer of 2016: Supercharged Survival!

This time...no dancing cars! We promise. No, really. No dancing cars. We don't know what we were thinking back then. We're sorry. But you can count on 3D and water effects!"
