Just got back from 3 nights here. They do such a good job with their celebrations. There was almost no doubt anywhere you were standing that the 70th was going on.

The new World of Color was okay.. definitely not my favorite. The Muppets pre-show was my favorite part. The new projection show on IASW for the anniversary was nice and it was great to see Paint The Night again.

I realize this is extremely the Bigotry of Low Expectations, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see this much vertical construction at Avengers Campus today!

Other notes:

  • Incredicoaster, Radiator Springs Racers and Guardians of the Galaxy were all open for the first time in *checks notes* a long time. Naturally, RSR goes down again shortly
  • Haunted Mansion is down for its holiday conversion.
  • I love Halloween, but this is just too early. It's August! Give me a break!
  • Lots of great streetsmophere, including roving bands, all around the parks. The Mary Poppins band was riding the carousel this morning while playing. It's stuff like this that makes Disneyland a truly great park.
  • Storybook Land and Casey Jr. are also down for refurbishment

I feel you on this one. I'd also love to be able to ride the Haunted Mansion during the Halloween season again.

Considering typical Disney build timelines in recent years, you are right to be pleasantly surprised. I think Kevin Feige might be pulling some strings behind the scenes to get Disney to go full pedal to the metal on construction.

My money is on a early-spring 2027 debut.

I was at Disneyland yesterday and I was also surprised to see the amount of vertical progress as well.

I suppose my major reservation is that no matter how quickly they finish it, this needs to be a really, really good ride to balance out the general aggressively mid nature of Avengers Campus (and Mission Breakout was pre-existing so it doesn't count). It's telling that on a very busy Saturday the posted wait for Webslingers was 30% of Mission Breakout overlay (25 minutes vs 75 minutes). It's just a ride I walk by every time I'm there, and think, "I'm not interested in that."

At the end of the day, I just want to have a new original ride that compels me to re-ride it, and if that takes three years, I'm fine with that.

I think I’m e Coco and Avengers are done, I think the next DCA project should be replacing Web slingers with something better. *Eyes the Shanghai Spiderman coaster*

WEB Slingers is an ‘any height’ attraction in a park that desperately needs more of them.

Aren’t they already addressing this with Coco and Avatar? Also Avengers should at least have a pretty low height requirement. DCA needs a themed family coaster, which is the one thing the park really needs.

I imagine only one of these is going to be “any height.” Coco will definitely help, though.

If they want to do a 5th Avengers Campus attraction that takes over the Hyperion, maybe that could be the more thrilling but still family friendly attraction. As for an actual family friendly themed coaster, based on DCA's space constraints and restrictions laid out for the Simba lot, it would probably go in Disneyland proper.

They should actually use the Hyperion imo. Pretty easy way to make people happy.

Yeah, it's pretty depressing to walk by probably THE best theater built for a theme park show and have it sit empty for every single one of my trips since Covid (missed the short Rogers: The Musical run).

At least the Fanasyland Theater across the way has a... :sigh:.. Pixar dance party.

It's pretty depressing waiting in a 120 minute line for Radiator Springs Racers knowing a quarter of those people could be in the theater making my life easier.

This is a controversial thing to say I'm sure, but I think the Coco IP -- and everything it offers in terms of visuals, theme, vibe, characters, performances -- could have been conveyed as well, perhaps better, in a spectacular stage show with special effects in the Hyperion -- rather than than the boat ride.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited for the boat ride. I love boat rides in general, and DCA needs one, or two. And Coco will make a great boat ride (and yet it could be a great suspended dark ride or trackless dark ride or omnimover...). But there are a lot of properties that specifically would make a great boat ride like Tangled, Frozen, Moana, Little Mermaid (they kind of missed the boat there)...

And if they had refashioned the Hyperion as a dedicated Coco show (not just a temporary performance), they could have refashioned Hollywood Blvd. (which is generic studio-theme-park-vibe) into the Mexican village many fans want...an easy and great transition from Buena Vista St.

Sounds to me more like war against the actors Equity union than anything else. Disney has always had a nasty attitude to unions dating back to Walt's anti union stances.....Disney was none too happy about losing the battle against the characters unionization.

I don't mind Halloween in August...if you don't enjoy this then find a way to stop people from paying extra to go to haunt and Oggie Boogie each year....I'd rather them have the extra Halloween Entertainment out over more off season with less live entertainment. DCA gets two really good shows the Mickey Tick or Treat show for me is one of the best "kids" shows I've ever seen its quick, fun, well themed and funny at times plus kids get active and dance, plus the Coco show is really well done and rather these shows come now then in 4 weeks just because some people don't want Halloween now

I went to the park yesterday, Rope Drop was easy but by noon parking had become a mess because of Oogie Boogie first night. HMH had up a good amount of its decorations, while Mainstreet didn't have much yet besides some orange flowers that were planted. Also I was told Mickey was a no recording/camera ride by a CM, no idea if this park Policy or just a CM who doesn't like filming on rides but a heads up (also no other rides cared about films so for sure not something through out the park)

I got to see the Mickey Trick or Treat show its first day and its as fun as always. Also for people wondering its about 40-60 mins to get out of Disneyland parking and into Knotts Berry Farm. I finally got to do this and while they are close it does take a little longer then you'd think

Yeah, I think this is ultimately the reason Hyperion is sitting empty and why I'd prefer a "permanent" installation like a ride rather than a show that could be easily eliminated

Parking was screwed up all day yesterday because their credit card system went down in the morning and never went back up (as far as I know). I got through at 730 yesterday, so it must have been some time after that. The line was still all the way out onto Ball Rd. when I left around 2:30 p.m. Apparently they were asking people to pay cash; no cash? You got waved through. Seems like the smart thing to do would be to just eat the money and wave everyone through to clear the line, but, alas, this is the world we live in.

Wait times were short yesterday but lots of influencers in the park "trying" the new food and beverage. I put trying in quotes because I watched an influencer couple film the new Oogie Boogie burrito, film themselves with the burrito ... and then throw the entire thing in the trash. It's a good culture. Happy to live in this time.

Ahhh that makes sense why it was taking longer to get in

That sucks and you dont have to but if you know names....shame them. I feel like that thats the only way to get rid of people like them. Most people I know who film at the parks are smaller and much more normal people enjoying the parks and never seen them throw food away.
Some people who makes the videos are just in it for money, and they ruin it for the rest of the people trying to film events at the parks
