I really don't think they'd invest in the refreshed version of the show (and what I've heard are moderately substantial environmental things that needed to be addressed inside the theater) if they weren't planning on it being around for a while.

So I suspect that Walt Disney Presents/One Man's Dream and Mermaid will remain basically as they are.

Makes sense. I am personally hoping for an area themed to Disney Animation proper. Maybe this can be WDW's take on Avengers Campus with a catch all type land that can be updated as time goes on.

I don't see how the land as is at SDL would work at DHS. DHS has massive capacity problems and a land with one ride isn't going to cut it.

Maybe (hopefully) their thinking has finally changed, but I don't think Disney has cared too much about expanding capacity in the last ten years or so. Hence a lot of replacements.

Seems a general theme and/or regional park trend with both Disney and all their rivals. Don't increase capacity, even with large attendance gains. And, sell more fast lane type passes as a profit generator. They all do this, and with particular intent, and damn the guest experience.....But, with huge price increases that have outpaced any inflation rates , and cuts in guest experiences/entertainment, they all seem to be finally hitting a wall. They all got away with it for a long time, but sooner or later that stuff catches up. And, demographic changes caused by the declining birth rate will continue to lessen the percentage of teenagers/early 20's that have been the core of many park's attendance.

There have been some indications/suggestions from insiders that some of Disney's thinking re: expanding capacity may have shifted.

Which would be a good thing.

Rode ROTR a couple times on Sunday and many of the effects were not working. The transport ship motion was nearly non-existent, of course cannons still down and Kylo ending was in B mode. Good news was the waits were the lowest I've ever seen. First ride around 4pm, posted 45, actual 25. Then around 5:30pm, posted 40, actual 15.

I'm completely stumped why this wasn't announced at D23

Does this give away Muppets as the Monsters land? If they're going to start construction soon for Monsters they aren't going to put a live show in for only a few weeks.

Monsters wouldn't be affecting this if it were going into Animation Courtyard.

This building is the one on the other side of RNRC.

Well it’s not replacing RnR/Cars show.

Genuine guess is they wanted to see how initial Villains land announcement went before green lighting this project as well.

The show will feature appearances by dozens of the most infamous evildoers

Probably market research to figure out which villains should be prominent in the land.

Then once Villains opens they can demo that and maybe the RNRC showbuilding for some other land post Monsters

Nice move. This, along with the new Mermaid show, will help to alleviate those long ride times. The Cars show was OK for kids, but a one off, and not really interesting for adults. It's always nice to have a 20 minute theater show, in relaxing air conditioning, instead of those long lines for a 4 minute ride. Lots of good shows at DHS to help make up for the ride shortage.

It probably wasn’t ready to be announced and also it’s nice to have more surprise announcements even after that event takes place.

That's what Disney-MGM Studios was all about so it's great to see something reminiscent of the park's early days. I also think it's the perfect space for it. Racing Academy is no big loss but with the announcement, I thought something was finally replacing Beauty and the Beast at first. :lmao:
