I know Cirque bought BlueMan, but would they be allowed to have a large scale development/relationship with Uni? Cirque and Disney have had a pretty long history together, I would think there’d be some type of do-not-compete clause

I seriously doubt there's a do-not-compete. There are 6 shows in Vegas alone, so I don't think Disney would need to worry about losing customers to their own show.

All the shows in Vegas are in MGM hotels.

My point was more that Vegas, a destination smaller than Orlando in visitor numbers, can sustain 6 shows.

The only thing I would say, is that I believe the shows in Vegas are all from the MGM-Casino's family (Bellagio, Luxor, MGM Grand, E.T.C.) so that there may be more of a problem there.

I expect a Cirque show to replace the current show already at DS, but that I think Universal should be fine as long as the hotel for that front, is entirely Cirque.

And as another thing, if the other hotel is DW-Themed...what stops them from just bringing the DreamWorks Theater to that hotel as an exclusive amenity?

Yea, if one of the hotel's is Cirque themed, as I'm almost certain one is, I would imagine Uni and Cirque know that it'll fly by Disney just fine

It had an unbelievable amount of commercials on Nickelodeon. I'm not sure that was the issue. I think the biggest issue was price. It was an expensive hotel. For families who are going to the parks, I don't think the hotel offered enough to justify that price difference. The Disney/Universal premium is partly for the transportation / in-park perks that you get for being on-site. Nickelodeon couldn't offer any of those.

And, in Orlando, I'm pretty sure there isn't a market for Great Wolf Lodge style resorts like Nickelodeon.

This. I stayed there twice about 7-8 years ago when I was younger and had a blast both times. We solely went because the hotel itself was an attraction; as locals, we had no need to stay there for other attractions. We were going to go there again for a one night stay in 2011, but our room we booked had a water leakage. Then I became older and lost interest

Considering that you have a worldwide brand that is iconic enough to gain highly positive response whatever the show is, I would think they could do an original show with no Universal IP; and actually get people to stay there for not only that, but almost as if the experience from the moment you check in and out; is Cirque.

I don't disagree, but I'm willing to bet it's tied into Universal somehow

I would bet on it being something Universal animation themed. Whether that means just dreamworks or mixing in some Illumination, idk, but I do know that Cirque is wanting to make shows specific to their location of late.

The new Cirque show at Disney is said to be based on Disney animation. Cirque execs all but confirmed that.

Cirque shows in Vegas have been suffering from cannibalization, and Disney certainly would be wary about Universal instantly one-upping their new Cirque show. I think a Cirque resort would be better situated in Las Vegas than the Orlando market.

I also can't help but think that the Dreamworks license itself, especially Dragon, is better suited for Park X/IOA. I'm still rooting for a production show theater, I'm so over arena/Cirque shows.

They are now. MGM acquired several properties that had Cirque shows already (example: Bellagio).

Sorry, I meant Dragons show for IoA and Cirque for WNW Hotel, not a theater in each hotel...though who knows. I've only heard about the Cirque one.

The Cirque creators were somewhat cagey about what might come next for Disney. Two cirques in town would not be unheard of.

I looked at the hotel plans looking for a separate theatre/show building for the show, couldn't see anything, so I presume the show would take place in the hotel itself, is this how it works in Vegas?

Also looking at the plans I would presume the actual water park site (site a ) would be for this hotel and the site across the road (site b) being for the other (DW). I say this as site b has more space and two pools which would be more family and kid friendly and I can envisage AofA style resort from those plans which could jive well with the Dream Works rumour.

Site a would have a more adult feel, especially with THAT pool LOL so I imagine this to be Cirque.

So...

What IP or IP Family within Dreamworks or Illuminations has/have surfing or beaches as a central theme since we seem to have a surfboard shaped pool?

I don't think we should be analyzing those as if they are final designs. I always thought those were just to give the city an idea on what they were going for
