I'm surprised they've still kept the dates for New Mutants and David Copperfield. 1. Why would they want two of their own films competing against each other in an environment where both films would be making little money anyway? 2. If August 21st isn't happening, then what makes Disney think August 28th will happen?

As for Mulan and French Dispatch, I think Mulan would be pretty safe in October with French Dispatch taking over The Last Duel's prestige date.

As stated, I firmly believe this is a theatrical dump to fulfill contract obligations stating that there needed to be a theatrical release. It will play where it can, but since they can't put it on streaming (HBO gets Fox movies first on streaming), might as well get what you can and then throw it on VOD.

An interesting article on today's Washington post internet site, with some beautiful photos also. Kind of reminds me of Orlando's present situation....."With American Tourists Banned From Italy, Amalfi Coast Workers Are Sliding into Poverty". "More than 40% of the people who last year checked into five star Amalfi hotels were from the United States".

The wild and good news is that Bar Harbor, Maine is running at what I would say is 60% capacity this past week (based on my driving around cussing quotient). Doesn’t look a thing like WDW or UOR‘s sorry streets. While not perfect, it is far better than most hoped 3 weeks back. Restaurants with gobs of outdoor seating that did ho-hum biz in years past now have lines. Interior locked restaurants are having a hard time of it. Lodgings appear well enough filled.

As long as nothing goes south with the numbers in Maine, then I expect August, September and October to be pretty darned good. That is an unknown of course, but I do hope.

Good, I hope most survive the hit.
I think once the props to the economy run out next week and in October we will see huge shifts in housing and if that plays out then many will not be spending outside of necessities for the next many months. Florida will have a magnified hit, hope I can sell before the housing market collapses again.

So stores are basically canceling Black Friday this year to try and avoid overcrowded stores. Walmart, Target and Dick's Sporting Goods have all announced that they will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Washington Post...just now....."The British Transport Ministry just warned against non-essential travel to Spain -and said that all visitors would have to quarantine for 14 days upon return
to Britain. British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, who was on vacation in Spain with his family, was just one of thousands of British holiday makers caught by surprise by the sudden British announcement,
which was made in response to a spike in covid cases in Spain"....Shapps who arrived with his family on Saturday, will be returning to England today. He, evidently, was caught unawares by the declaration.

Its insane to think one of the busiest days of the years is being shut down.....without the government telling them to do it

I think hey are hoping that instead of all shopping being done that day, it'll be done over an extended period of time and people will buy things earlier than they otherwise would. The problem for them is that Amazon is the likely clear winner here.

Black Friday has been on the decline for a few years now, with online taking over. Most stores were pushing their times back from 6PM Thanksgiving day, back to early morning on Friday. So this makes sense anyway. Not to mention most of them offer the same sales if you order online.

It is only recently that greed won out over family. For most of my life stores closed on Thanksgiving so their people could be with their families.

Yup, 2011 was the first year Target was ever open on Thanksgiving, for example.

I'm pushing for the return of the clerk putting the receipt in the bag, I don't want them to hand it to me.

Actually there might be another positive....some people may have learned to cook for themselves and their families....and stay home & interact together, as a family, more often. There's some
real old time virtues that have nearly disappeared since smartphones and social media started dominating people's time and lives. Often, simpler is better. Slow it down, appreciate and enjoy the moment.

Speaking of cooking :eat: Earlier in the pandemic we joked about gaining the COVID-19. I saw a news report the other day where it is more like the COVID-60.

I've definitely gained weight, but i've become more cautious at how much I eat lately. Being honest, I don't eat that healthy at all, but I normally get away with it because of how much I walk on a normal pre-COVID day. I'm normally around 20,000 steps when i'm out working. I try to go on walks or ride my bike still, but it's still not the same.

I've also noticed I eat breakfast almost everyday now whereas before I barely ever did. So that's a whole extra meal that's basically been added on a daily basis that I normally don't eat.

“What did you do today, sweetie?”

“Not a damn thing. We’re in quarantine.”

Interaction is overrated.
