This is big in terms of getting tourism back to Hawaii:

Yeah, that’s steep to say the least. I’d be willing to pay extra to avoid a quarantine, but $250 is ridiculous.

Especially when the test they’re using apparently costs $5

Someone else can link, but Desantis just signed some more death warrants by completely reopening.

Gov. Ron DeSantis lifts all COVID-19 restrictions on Florida restaurants

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WEAR) — Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Friday morning that Florida is moving into full Phase 3 of its reopening. The order specifically lifts COVID-19 restrictions on restaurants. Restaurants can now operate at a minimum of 50% capacity -- meaning they are fully open. Gov...

If local government wants to stop a re-opening/enforce restrictions, they need approval from DeSantis, which will not happen. Nightclubs are also allowed to re-open with full capacity.

We are so fudged.

Nightclubs are probably the largest super spreaders in most parts of the world. Even one of the very few success stories, South Korea, had problems with them when they opened. A bad move.

And theme parks can essentially resume normal operations? What madness is this? You have Florida as one extreme, and then California the complete opposite extreme. It’s such an analogy for the country in general. Let’s all get towards the middle.

Welp, guess my final decision on not taking a trip down there for the Halloween stuff was a good one. Probably will deter me from the holiday stuff too. Yikes.

I was already going to say... spikes in cases are what stop people from booking trips here. It's like Desantis forgets that his constituency lives in Florida and not DC.

This makes me sad, but this is the nail in the coffin. I will not be visiting Florida until Desantis is gone, literally not safe until then. What an utter disaster, he could care less about the lives of his citizens.

Just what an f’ing disgrace, what else is there to say?

I feel sorry for the responsible Floridian’s as it’s going to become so much more dangerous anywhere you go and anything you do. And I agree, this is going to be all over the news tonight and I expect there to be many cancelled trips from other states because of it... before the numbers skyrocket.

There's a vast, vast gulf of options between "locked down" and "free for all".

Agreed...However, nobody is forcing anyone to go out to dinner, to a movie, a sporting event, or even a theme park. If people feel safe and comfortable to do so then they should be able to make their own decisions and live their life accordingly. Especially since you have to wear a mask everywhere you go...The fact that Disneyland in California is still closed is shameful considering how many people it employs which brings me back to the difference between having a Democratic Governor in California and a Republican in Florida...
