I genuinely think a "monster vs monster" ride would be a cool way to diversify from Monsters Unchained which is mostly "monsters attack you." Bride vs. Gillman is a random pair but hey, a lot of the Universal Monsters movies had random pairs, I think that would be fun in itself.

Is it all that random, though? I was thinking about how that (previously linked) pin came about. The Creature is drawn to beauty -- it's a flavor of Beauty and the Beast, after all -- and one of the chief conflicts of the original film is that the Gil Man wants Kay, but Kay is independent and has no interest in a romance with the Creature (for a litany of reasons). Is it that wild to suspect that a liberated Bride of Frankenstein couldn't stand in for Kay?

The Creature is also drawn to the "other," just as the human scientists are drawn to the "other" from their perspective. The Bride is about as "other" as you can get.

Picture, if you will, a scenario where the Bride of Frankenstein is leading an expedition into the Black Lagoon in search of the escaped Gil Man, whose unique primordial biology promises to offer scientific secrets that she wishes to explore (perhaps something related to longevity - certainly a concern for someone born of deceased flesh). We board boats to help her map some uncharted territory and hopefully make some progress in locating the Creature. Before long, we find it -- or rather, Gil Man finds us -- and it's clear he's drawn to the Bride. Unfortunately, much like in the original film, the Creature interprets our presence as a threat to its own -- and crucially, its future with the Bride. The result is a climactic action sequence where the Creature attacks, and the Bride is forced to intervene and save us.

I have no idea if anything like that is happening. But if I were pitching, based on the concept implied by the Creature/Bride image in the existing Dark Universe merch, that's where I'd take it.

So boat ride/water coaster. Start as a slow boat ride where Gillman is trying to serenade the bride and steal her. Then we go off a waterfall and its a coaster from there on where the bride tries to escape. We end is a splashdown as we return to the station.

Hated the idea of a Gillman boat ride being turned into some coaster.

But, weeks later, I remembered the first iteration of Sea World's Journey to Atlantis.

This could work!

My understanding from what is being rumored is that the Mack Rocking Boat coaster/boat was what was planned for the Creature ride, and that was scrapped. Whatever is being planned now will not use water/boats.

they can also do what Disney did with 20,000 leagues under the sea at USJ where they use the vehicle to simulate being underwater which also is a huge money saver in terms of maintainence.

How large of a space are we looking at for the DU expansion? Are we looking at just a ride?

Maybe a ride + merch shop + food location ala Skull Island?

Based on eyeballing sky shots of EU, DU's expansion plot can go either or depending on the scale of what they want IMO.

This is what I’ve been kinda hinting at here. I don’t know plans but I what if the boat rumors are for the sensation while coaster is for the technical ride system. It’s easy to replicate water with some lighting and fog!

OR

Victoria gets captured by Creature and Bride goes to save her (to repay the debt for Victoria resurrecting Frank or something)

I feel like hero Bride would be better received

I have to say, as much as I've been pounding the table for an actual boat ride (both in Dark Universe and at USF), I'd love the idea of a riff on DisneySea's "dry for wet" 20K attraction.

Having now finally ridden DisneySea’s 20K attraction, a Creature ride featuring a similar system would be incredible. It’s deeply underrated.

Does anyone know how big the Portaventura Uncharted coaster building is? I wanted to see if that compared in size to the DU expansion space
