Yeah, while Rise of The Resistance is definitely the most technically advanced theme park attraction ever built, I do think it is a tad overrated. I feel that WDW and UOR both have other attractions that surpass it already.

This is how I feel about Islands of Adventure's Spider-Man ride, which is obviously an Unpopular Opinion. Comparison is the thief of joy, as they say, so I'm going to do my best to judge these attractions on their own merits before I get too List Brained.

The Yakisoba Calzone is tied with the Cheeseburger Eggroll as one of my least favorite foods I’ve ever eaten in a theme park. Had to throw mine away!!

The texture and (lack of) flavor just killed me. Fortunately, I had a delicious Melon Lassi to wash it down.

But I’m really pessimistic on Japanese theme park food in general. I think the food (excluding sweet snacks) at USJ and TDR are generally awful.

I've had it twice before and personally I thought it was delicious. It could use a little salt but it's still good imo

It’s not my favorite for reasons that I think might be similar to yours but I don’t think I can call it overrated or not-deserving of the best ride ever. I think people harp on RotR for the thrill-factor. RotR is fascinating because it manages to be exciting and impressive while being a (relatively) calm ride. It’s basically the only “best-of” attraction that doesn’t constantly shake you around, like Indy, Spidey, Forbidden Journey, JWA, etc. And it looks like Monsters and Ministry will both be shake-you-around rides.

They get a bad rap in the park community now but the trackless dark rides are a hit amongst the GP. Even when I visit one today you get a “woah how does that work???” reaction from someone riding. I think Rat is just fine but I get why people love it.

Monsters is absolutely my number one when I go this September, with MoM pulling in second. I genuinely haven’t been this hyped for a ride in years, let alone the entire land. I plan on beginning the day there and ending the day there, so as to experience the land in the dark! (Especially wanna get a ride on Curse by moonlight.)

Other than a single ride on DK just to say I’ve done it, I pretty much won’t be spending any time in SNW, otherwise I’m just gonna be riding and re-riding everything in the other lands since this trip will likely be the last time I ever step foot in Florida.

Rise of the Resistance is the best designed ride in Orlando, the story telling and ride experience don't make the high and lows of other attractions.

As with many others, Monsters: Unchained is my most anticipated. A UCM dark ride that's most likely going to be a thrilling haunted house using a ride system with a buttload of potential? Yes please. While I'm doing what I can to keep my expectations in check, if it turns out to be a solid ride, it's probably the first dark ride in a long while which has a chance of rivaling some of my all-time favs such as Spider-Man, Indy, RSR, ToT and GotG: MB etc. (Sorry ROTR, nice ride overall...but not my favorite SW ride. That goes to Hyperspace Mountain cause that's the closest we're getting to an X-Wing coaster, and that experience is pure joy for me.)

After that, I'm intrigued by Battle at the Ministry, and I'm honestly excited for Hiccup's Winged Gliders. I think that could be a really fun family coaster, and I'm really digging the setting and near misses etc. with the lake and grandstands.

I think Stardust Racers will be pretty fun, but at its core a big coaster isn't necessarily new. Now that's not a bad thing whatsoever, but in terms of anticipation it's going up against a dark ride of a beloved IP that fans have wanted represented for years.

There could be other factors as well, but it get's into nitty-gritty personal preferences. Good example is I like launches to have a nice kick to them, and Mack is known for not having strong launches compared to Intamin's.

Hmm… but with that logic, Tower of Terror is like a 25-minute ride. You start in the hotel gardens, move through the lobby, the library pre-show, the boiler room, each section is immersive, but you’re still just queuing until you actually strap in. ROTR just takes that idea and dials it up to 100. You get on a ship, you ‘get captured,’ and yeah, it blurs the lines really well. But it’s still just a pre-show on steroids.

Obviously, that’s a stretch, there are plenty of longer, more elaborate queues and pre-shows that ToT. But ultimately, the experience starts the second you walk through those hotel gates. And maybe that’s why ROTR is in its own category. It blurs the lines so much that the whole thing feels like one continuous ride. And if that’s how you want to judge it, fair enough. But for me...

The ride starts when I’m told to keep my arms and legs inside the vehicle. And when you get to that part, it’s a Ratatouille trackless dark ride with minimal movement. Presentation, definitely 10/10. Ride system? A solid 8 at best. I’d take Indy, Spider-Man, or Forbidden Journey over it any day, because at the end of the day, the ride itself has to hold up, and have some intensity for me personally.

  1. Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment - Come on, there's no competition here. A Classic Monsters dark ride utilizing physical sets and highly advanced larger-than-life animatronics? Using the Forbidden Journey ride system (a ride that I absolutely adore)??? It's a bluesky dream come true. I know this has already been said by many before me, and many after will say the same, but I seriously haven't been this excited for a ride or even land in general in a LONG time. Cannot wait to see what Victoria Frankenstein has in store for us.

  2. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry - This is sounding very much like Universal's response to RotR, and a damn good one at that. Although, truth be told, I do think most of my excitement comes from the ride system. What's essentially the SCOOP able to rise and fall quickly sounds absolutely insane in the best way possible, and I cannot wait to see it utilized. Both this and Unchained, however, I am rather worried about how consistently their best effects will work in the long term. We've already seen with RotR how a lot of its main big effects (second Kylo animatronic and the cannons come to mind) can not work for long periods of time.

  3. Stardust Racers - I unfortunately never got to ride Dragons when it was still dueling. Sad thing is I could've, but little me was still terrified of looping coasters so I chickened out right at the boarding station. I'm happy though that I'll finally get to experience a dueling coaster with this! Not only does the theming of racing/dancing through the stars sound incredible, but this also just seems like an incredible two coasters. Back row best row!

  4. Mine Cart Madness - The original Donkey Kong Country was one of the first video games I ever played (thank you Wii Virtual Console!), and I still remember all the times I raged at that damn mine cart level, and yet still having so much fun with it. Donkey Kong in general holds a special place in my heart, with the DKC series being some of the best 2D platformers ever made, and DK64 being one of my favorite games of all time. I'm so excited to finally step into those games, ride Mine Cart Madness and show little me that after all these years... that level is actually really not that hard, and he needed to git gud.

  5. Yoshi's Adventure - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island feels like it's often forgotten about, despite it being (IMO) by far still the best game in the Yoshi's Island series, with none of the other additions coming even close. That game is packed with so much charm and whimsy, and I'm glad to see it get rep here. I also absolutely Peoplemover at Disney, so this essentially being a Yoshi Peoplemover makes me very happy. Should be fun to people-watch on this as well as families enter the land.

  6. Hiccup's Wing Gliders - Never seen HTTYD, but this land still seems like it'll be very fun. This coaster is looking like a very nice balance of being thrilling while still being family-friendly, I think it'll be a good step up for kids inching their way over that fear of coasters.

  7. Curse of the Werewolf - Still wish we were getting the show instead, but alas. Don't like the new netting at all, and I really think they should've gone the Mummy route of making this half dark ride, half coaster. Imagine instead if after meeting the gypsy, instead of going straight into the coaster launch, we instead went through a haunting forest, with audio sensory fooling us and making us tense. Finally, werewolf lunge sends us into a launch through a forest always set in the dark, as werewolves chase us. Oh well, at least we still have the Creature expansion (whenever it may come).

  8. Fyre Drill - WAR!!!!

  9. Dragon Racers Rally - Not much to say besides this looks like a fun fair-style ride.

  10. Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge - Only this low since I've already ridden it in Hollywood. I like it, but I do wish it could've been something different besides essentially being AR MIB.

  11. Constellation Carousel - Eh, just a carousel. Building looks beautiful though.

Here is my list:

1) Monsters Unchained- Monsters?!?!? Do I need to say more

2) Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry- The queue looks incredible and a unique ride system in the Harry Potter universe! Sign me up!

3) Stardust Racers- Can’t wait to ride this at night with the coaster train lighting up the night sky!

4) Hiccup’s Wing Gliders- I love How to Train your Dragon and I love a good family coaster zooming throughout the land!

5) Mine Cart Madness- This coaster fits Donkey Kong Country so well and the feel of being able to jump the track is awesome! Both kids and adults will have a blast! I just wish it was a tad longer and had a longer indoor portion.

6) Mario Kart- I never rode it so excited to experience it. However, I’m more excited for the physical sets and queue than actually participating in the race with the AR capabilities.

7) Dragon Racer’s Rally- I know that it’s a flat ride that is in many parks around the globe but I think it’ll be a blast soaring above the Isle of Berk with unique views of the land.

8) Constellation Carousel- I love that it is not your typical carousel and will offer something a bit different. Did I mention how beautiful the carousel looks?!?! Will be breathtaking to look at in Celestial Park.

9) Yoshi’s Adventure- Can’t wait to see Super Nintendo World from a different vantage point.

10) Curse of the Werewolf- I’m glad there is something for people to ride that don’t want to ride Monsters Unchained but to me this coaster seems to be lacking.

11) Fyre Drill- Families will love it and I’m excited to watch the boats in action but it’s not for me.

1. Stardust Racers - this looks like a pretty gnarly coaster, but we'll see if it's as good as it looks.
2. Monsters Unchained - the animatronics look amazing, the success of this for me is how little it is dependent on screens.
3. Harry Potter - looks amazing, but as with 2, less screen based please.
4. Hiccup's Wing Gliders - if it's anywhere near the level of Hagrid's, could be the sleeper hit.
5. Mine Cart Madness - based on Japan, it doesn't look as good as the concept, the jump the track parts, I'm not sure how perceptible it is to riders.
6. Curse of the Werewolf - it could be a lot of fun, especially if it's getting towards the time traveller level.
7. Mario Kart - I've done Mario Kart in Hollywood and was not that impressed, more for gamers. Land was great and immersive though.

The rest I'm not that fussed about, will give them a go, and maybe I'll be surprised. Being a HHN fan, I hope Dark Universe will catch a real HHN vibe at night.

I'm honestly shocked by the voting so far. I wonder if it's:
  1. Monsters is the ride we've had the most behind the scenes info released so far and has everybody hyped up for it
  2. So many of the people who come to these forums are HHN nerds (I include myself in that)
  3. A mix of the two

I’m not a HHN nerd, in fact I have never attended a single HHN event and I’m most excited for Monsters Unchained.

We know what to expect with Super Nintendo World. I also think Potter being the third land undercuts the hype a tad. With Berk, we can see what the attractions offer. Monsters and Battle at the Ministry are the only true "unknowns" and they are 1 and 2 on the poll. Not too shocked TBH.
