Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Indiana Jones (soon) would like a word with you…

I get it. Buzz isn’t the star of Midway Mania, but he is featured in both. And Indy’s run of being in two parks, at the same time, may be short lived, if the stunt show shutters. But I can’t see why Moana couldn’t have a walkthrough in one park and a ride in the same or different park.

I can let Mickey slide, but I don't like that Buzz is in two parks. I wouldn't be surprised if the stunt show sticks around after Indy opens in DAK, but I'd rather see the stunt show close to make way for something new at DHS.

I think I exaggerated by saying I don't want a Moana ride lmao cause I could live with a Moana ride in EPCOT as long as it's attached to Journey of Water. Putting it in another park just doesn't seem ideal to me.

Trusted insiders were heavily pointing to some sort of announcement for Moana at D23. After skimming WDWMagic this past night, I read that apparently it was going to be announced, but was pulled fairly late into the game.

That said, I hope Moana goes into MK In Adventureland. This also sounds like an opportunity to bring the Shanghai Pirates ride system to WDW.

This came up on WDWMagic today, but apparently according to insider Henry Mystic, future developments being worked on for WDW at the moment include Inside Out, The Incredibles, Mystery Island (no idea if its related to the movie), Frozen, Figment, Tangled, and Captain EO.

One of my greatest theme park desires has been for either or both of the Mysterious Island rides to come to Orlando.

That is why I'm confident it will never happen.

not to be overly nihilist at this early hour, but does any of this even matter? it's clear this has all been in flux since they took the stage at D23 and I don't see much reason to believe that's changed. I don't doubt that Insider Guy is hearing legitimate information, but it's so likely to change over the next five years that I can't get particularly excited about any of it.

I mean….. I’m sure every popular franchise at both Disney and Universal have constant ideas for rides, lands, shows, etc. This feels like a nothing burger. Frozen land or the Fantasy Springs ride at DLR I absolutely believe though.

Bingo. The announced experiences are for the next 5 years, but a lot can change in the planning stages these next few years. A new IP can prop up, Frozen can be replaced by another princess, etc.

Wall-E, Big Hero Six, and Wreck it Ralph, could be used to finally anchor a new Tomorrowland.

The further away we get from D23, the more it seems like some of the plans they announced were either not entirely baked or did not have any pre-determined timelines. "Dirt is moving", yet we still don't know where Monsters Inc, Coco, and Avatar are going within their respective parks. Shouldn't we know when Dinoland closing by now, or, at the very least, have permits for the massive Encanto and Avengers show buildings?

According to insiders there wasn’t enough money in the budget approved for the current projects so it may have to wait to the next funding cycle.

For the Dinorama question, it's going to be closing in December timeframe. The rest of Dinoland will close after.

I agree with the rest of your point about the announcements feeling unbaked - things are shuffling and a bit too ambiguous.

But they weren't going to be announced at D23. Get what I'm trying to say here? If they have information about new projects in development that's great, but it's another level to claim they know about approvals and more sensitive info. I assume this rumor is the Moana coaster in MK, right? If so that has popped up with several people in the know over the years, so the only new info said insiders would provide would be if it was going to be announced at D23.

Sorry to be pedantic, I think it was a Moana boat ride. Moana as a coaster would be a terrible idea.

Perhaps Disney is waiting until early 2025 when all the major holiday festivities are done to put out all the info in regard to these expansions.

Not going down this route, politics and this election may form into decision making here. Especially in Florida. Not surprised things are up in the air spending wise sadly.

I do wish, while it’s objectively fun as a forum contributor, that some of these rumors became more consistent.

One site said that Dinoland wouldn't close until after the marathons occur in January as the map of the course still appears to show the race going through Dinoland. It's hard to say for certain.

They can close DinoRama and start demo there now, but leave all main paths through land open, as well as the Dinosaur ride, until after January.

The only real surprise here for me is Captain EO. I'd imagine Disney would want to keep away from MJ after the past few years.

Everything else seems totally reasonable, and even if this information is bogus, I would bet money on all of these IP being considered for major WDW attractions internally. They're all huge winners that are really underutilized currently. Figment is a really easy win for them that I'm shocked hasn't happened yet.
