To be fair, I think Tron may of costed the same amount for Shanghai to what is being spent for Guardians, so it may not be that far of a stretch for modern WDI standards (which..are not great).

Tron isn’t costing much less than GOTG being a clone, never mind Shanghai.

That in and of itself is sick too.

I've made my peace with how terrible of a fit this is, and am just hoping it's a good coaster. Epcot has needed a coaster since 1982, so it is what it is.

They could’ve built Mt. Fuji instead of Guardians.

They didn't.

And the Mt Fuji coaster plan makes about as much sense for Epcot as Guardians does. It was just Space Mountain inside a Mt Fuji façade.

PR-Wise, Guardians has been claimed as "one of the world's longest enclosed rollercoasters", which should not mean much at all. No one has said of it being as intense as Space (which isn't that much of a high mark to begin with..) or the tallest (which, like said, shouldn't be a high mark at all).

It'll be more intense then space... you don't spend somewhere close to $400M on an enclosed Wild Mouse with light theming. Gringotts is probably the ride we hear it compared to and given the descriptions of it we've heard, it sounds like it could potentially (potentially) be better than Gringotts. I wouldn't bet on it simply because I don't fully trust Disney to deliver.

As far as official from Disney though, you're right.

It's going to be a launch coaster, so that automatically makes it more intense than Space mountain. The only thing "intense" about Space Mountain is that it's in the dark. The ride itself is no more intense than Thunder Mountain, and I'd argue less intense than Everest.

I'm not seeing Gringotts when I see this. I see something like Pandemonium at Six Flags, inside, and launched. Or Time Traveler. The spinning on Gringotts is controlled and the ride is more of a dark ride.

Yea, I'd say I see TRON or Mummy vibes from this, not Gringotts.

What I've seen is it's going to be spinning RnR with a show scene or two right before the launch out of the UoE building, through a tunnel, and into the new show building.

It's my understanding that once the coaster section of this ride kicks in, there will be no show scenes (and it seems there might barely be any show scenes at all). As such, that removes Revenge of the Mummy and Escape from Gringotts as possible comparison points.

Would an improved RNRC be a better comparison?

Indeed. Space Mountain actually goes slower than BTMRR at its fastest speed.

I don't understand how anybody can't see the similarities to this and Gringotts:

It's a coaster with spinning trains that will probably encompass some kind of show scenes at some point.

I'd say it's far too early still. I don't think the seats on this are going to randomly spin and will be more controlled.

Has way more comparisons to Time Traveler than Gringotts. This already has more hills in it than Gringotts!
