Any inside info? Seems really odd they'd both go down. Although they are aparently in the same buidling. So, I guess a main electrical issue, or air conditioning could do it.

Sprinklers setting off fire alarms seems to be the issue according to a CM.

I'm getting a drop track vibe from this set up.

Simply there’s space below where the track could be.

You should send it to UC. Maybe they'll use it. ;)

More evidence to this being one of Intamin’s Multi-Dimensional Coasters. The other two that have been constructed have both featured drop tracks.

By this do you mean there is definitely no drop-track or just that there are a few different possibilities that could be happening in there that may or may not involve something similar in style to a drop track? Perhaps a different "next generation" version of the effect? Maybe something along the lines of a track switch that surprises guests by not moving forwards or backwards but horizontally and dropping down a short dip sideways? I'm running out of ideas.

TBH Dont see where you see a drop track theme. Clearly the Rebar is a Ceiling/Floor but it only starts about 6 feet below the surface of the ground level. So if they pour concrete on that rebar(which they will) that solidifies a floor. Which means anything underneath of that floor is most likely backstage or structural elements. Now what they do with the untouched constructed part of the dug out section is up to debate, but it clearly doesnt allow for any exit way after any drop section. So IMO drop track is a no go for sure.

Maybe it's a motion platform for the track?

Nah, it’s probably a drop track. I was hoping/thinking it may be something else, but apparently y’all guessed it. It’s a drop track.

This building gonna get tall. So there’ll be lots of room to enter, drop, and launch on outta there.

Yesterday they were filing in Diagon Alley, could it be that a Harry Potter announcement is forthcoming?

To my knowledge no one has guessed the actual theming of that particular portion of the ride. (It's not the Shrieking Shack!) Just because a structure is larger, does not mean it will appear that way from guest areas, so that shouldn't be your basis for guessing by the way.

I saw filming all around USF yesterday, so not sure it was anything specific to Potter.

Higher resolution photos from the ground yesterday...

P1140730.JPG

You can see they've been stripping the rockwork off the white castle wall here, to make way for new Potter themed brick and rockwork:
P1140731.JPG

If you look closely you can see the framing left behind where all rockwork and more was removed from a structure near the entry:
P1140732.JPG

Wider view of the area:
P1140734.JPG

In this picture you can see... In the background/middle of the image are low supports for first scene coming out of building with the Ford Anglia... In foreground/left the tall supports are for the end of the ride over top of the lower supports, which are for the beginning of the ride:
P1140739.JPG

Close-up view of the awesome upwards climb before dropping the train backwards. Note the smaller angled supports in foreground for fun banked coaster bits leading to this moment:

Overview of this area, all pictures taken from exterior queue to Hogwarts Express:
