Hulk is definitely an exception. Drive tires are usually very inefficient for large scale launches when compared to other systems. However, with the situation that B&M was in, I think it was possibly the best choice that they had.

That makes me wonder if hulk would be any more jolting if it did have lsm, I dont think i can imagine it being any more jarring. Also mummy has lsm also and it's only 40mph I believe so idk. I cant wait to see which this ride uses.

At the time B&M did not build launched coasters. The launch system for Hulk was built by someone else. And it also highlighted a problem with tire launches - when they get wet they can get slipper (The Hulk sometimes would fail launch in the rain).

Not very often, but This does happen, just happened last year, I dont even know if theres a solution. And hulk's launch is covered and that happens, these flat launches on this ride sitting exposed in summer rain could be worse, if they use tires of course.

What does Cheetah Hunt use? I think tires may be used for slow moving show scene type parts on Pottah. No clue about launches yet.

Agreed. And I think two of the launches will be packing quite a punch.

Ah also the tire launches are rather long. And although the potter layout is big, I feel like shorter lsm launches make more sense.

I’m not sure if hulk would even work with a LSM launch as there is no block between the station and the launch incline, and LSMs can’t bring the train to a complete stop on an incline, so the train would just roll back into the staion colliding with the loading train. I doubt that using LSMs would make the launch much more powerful due to the incline though. Red Force, which has the fastest LSM launch in the world has around the same acceleration as Hulk (1G) and it has shorter trains than most Intamins, and the incline would require the LSMs to be a lot more powerful as well I think.

That must be some clever software to detect a failed launch because the launch area is relatively small and once the train is over the crest, it’s game over.

It doesn’t have one as far as I know. I guess it just relies on the friction from the wheels.

Longtime lurker here, figured I'd throw in my two cents.

I've seen some speculation in regards to ride intensity and comparisons to Wavebreaker or Thirteen based on what little track we've seen and the style of supports.

From what I can tell from the aerials and the most recent pics, this ride is going to be fast enough to necessitate Intamin's heavier track style.
The supports with the rectangle track mounting points are for the flat style track(like Thirteen) that can be seen in the building and from the pics of some on a trailer being hauled in.
However anywhere you see supports with the round track mounting points, it's likely to be Intamin's triangle shaped(medium strength?)track.

Just something that I noticed. Fingers crossed that we're getting a lite version of Taron.

I'm guessing, it would roll back to the station, having said that, the next train would probably be starting to unload. There's a train length in the tunnel before the launch where it would probably reset to.

I've seen before that if all 250 motors dont launch or if lightning strikes too close it stalls in place, and it slowly reverses back into the station... this is what happens

I know you're probably grabbing photos from the Hogwarts Express queue, but remember to only take photos from guest areas, and never stand on anything like a bench. Wouldn't want you to get in trouble. (I've heard some stories, especially from some of the Disney construction projects lately.)

1. The tires grip pretty hard, and I'm sure they could stop the train
2. You can clearly hear a clicking when going up the launch hill...I imagine that's an anti-rollback devise of some kind
