Based on how Murdy seemed pretty confident about how he felt with giving Asylum it's own maze during his Scare LA talk, I really hope he utilizes the opportunity for 2018. IDK, maybe it's just me, but every even-numbered year, excluding 2010, seems to be a strong year in regards to both lineups and execution, so I'm really rooting '18.

Yeah same. If we get Stranger Things and Asylum in the same year than it’s already better than 2017. I’m also hoping that if they do a classic property we get either Silence of the Lambs or The Thing; wishful thinking but they would be very great to see adapted.

I still really want a Hannibal maze. Please, let the revival come soon!

Amen. I’d imagine if they did Hannibal they’d incorporate SoTL scenes as well; no way they’d pass up on a few Buffalo Bill rooms

Considering how The Thing, and Hostel, were my favorite 2 mazes for 2011, I'd love to see them complete it with the original, or if we're being accurate with chronology, the "sequel" by John Carpenter.

I've never watched it, but since friends, my gf, and family members who are into horror say it's great, and also reading other comments of wanting it to come to the event, I think it has potential. I just hope if there are elements from the movie in that maze, they don't run into the same issue like this year where "They aren't allowed to use Anthony Hopkins' likeness". Though hopes for shows like Channel Zero, Twin Peaks, and The Strain are still out there for me.

A maze based off the original Thing is something I hope happens soon. John’s been talking about it for a while, so idk how it hasn’t happened yet aside from possible budgeting

I wouldn't be surprised if The Thing comes next year. It could be our Special FX maze for '18 and probably best FX maze at Hollywood.

No doubt it'd go in Mummy though.

I mean, the nice thing about the Thing being in the Mummy is that there's only a few really necessary scenes: the dog-thing, the Norwegian Base, the Heart Attack, long-claw Bennings, the blood test, and the ending mines. Throw in a few "regular human" scareactors like axe-wielding Wilford Brimley and I can see that as a relatively streamlined maze.

I could see it in the low-traffic middle Metro spot (where Krampus & Ash lived), but Mummy would work, too. Both have a precedent for cold scenes!

So the speculated properties that we think are most likely coming at the moment are:

- AHS Asylum: FDTD Area
- The Thing: Mummy Queue
- Stranger Things: 747 Queue?
- Blumhouse’s Halloween: Parisian Courtyard?

Just a thought, but if Halloween does come would it possibly be included in a BoH Volume 2? It seems possible, it’s just there’s not many other Blumhouse property(with no rights issues) that could fit a maze section besides Green Inferno, The Visit and maybe mini sections of Oculus and Purge 4.

I think Halloween is too iconic / has too long a history to really share a spotlight with the other Blumhouse properties.

Shining was a bit cramped in this spot.

I thought that It wasn't going to be at the event due to Stephen king not allowing his stories to be put as mazes?

I feel like Halloween would go in PC, since that’s where it was in 2015. I’m still sold that The Thing is most likely(assuming it comes) going in the Mummy which would allow IT to have more space in the JP Queue

*double post ik*

IT and The Shining are owned by Warner Bros; it’s how we got The Shining this year. They just found a loophole that worked around Stephen King so legally it was fine and he had no say in it

Controversial though it is to say, I'd argue IT has far more scenes that make sense to put in a haunt than the Shining. Alot of big, loud set-pieces happen in IT; you're introduced to most of the characters through jump scare moments (the butchery for Mike, the woman in the painting for Stan, the hobo for Ed, the headless kid for Ben) and the scares don't let up for most of the movie. If you cut out even some of those scares, it'll probably feel incomplete. By contrast, alot of really creepy things happen in the Shining, but most of those creepy things are just people talking to each other. You can argue otherwise, sure, but I think people are going to be far more tolerant of Uni cutting the scene where Jack tells Danny he wants to stay in the hotel "forever and ever" vs. Uni cutting the "very scary" doors or the clown room in IT.

On the subject of King rights: I think it stopped being an issue in 2013, when Knotts did that weird Carrie ending for Virus Z. Stupid though it was, I think that showed that haunts could use Stephen King properties.
