And of course you wouldn't. You've done nothing but whine and moan about HHN so far.

And you do nothing but defend it despite the obvious cuts that were made this year (and some of them had nothing to do with construction). Neither extreme is good, but I wouldn't say October is only "whining and moaning." He has expectations of what the event is based on past experience (i.e., the bar Universal has set) and expects nothing less than that quality for the money he's paying. He's allowed to criticize what is known about it since he's (presumably) trying to decide whether or not to spend money on attending. I fail to understand why you continue to make such blatantly inflammatory statements toward HHN fans when many of them are simply expressing concern about the direction the event may be taking.

Needed to get that off my chest.

As for what's been shown... I haven't watched any of the videos, I don't want it spoiled. I did look at the costumes, though...

Dead End looks AMAZING. That costume really excites me, and while I haven't watched the walk-through, it really seems like this house will be The Wyandot Estate executed correctly.

Gargoyle costume underwhelmed me... just seems off. I do like that it's a bodysuit, but it doesn't appear to be very realistic. Will probably look better in show lighting & with an actual actor inside it. The press image was impressive, so...

Alice Cooper looks fairly by the numbers. No real surprises.

Penn & Teller... chuckled at the show girl, but I'm very afraid this is going to be all funny, very little scary (closer to Cleaver than to Bloodengutz). Prove me wrong, I want to be!

Silent Hill Nurse looks spot-on, very excited to see that.

Walker looked boring. The prosthetics will be far more interesting in that house/zone.

Traditionals was exactly what I thought it'd be.

Warriors is... bizarre. Is it a gang, or a more medieval battalion? We'll need to see more.

Very confused by Beasts... I'm not sure I really get the costume. Went down on my anticipated list, sadly.

Prisoners and Vampires are predictably simple.

Gates look great (reminds me of 2007), though it's a shame the LED screen was ditched. Then again... what exactly what they show on the screen, even more AMC ads? :)

Just gonna toss this out there... last year, costumes and designs were shown early at a public Tweetup event. This year, it's a media-invite event... and the amount of spoiler-laden walk-through videos has increased dramatically. All much like our sister event in Hollywood...

What has been cut, other than a house (out of their control) and the website (which was nothing more than fluff)?

So far this year is WAY more interesting/exciting than last year. I'm not defending. I just obviously am not seeing the non-existent cuts, especially considering they keep saying casts will be bigger and things will be different. We haven't seen anything close to all the variations of the Legion costumes, so I can't comment on them.

Sorry, just don't see the cuts.

The loss of a house was in their control. Before the demolition ever began, the plan was 7 houses. Why is that? The original plan for the year involved both parks and 8 houses. At some point, that number decreased to 7. 8 houses could have been done if they wanted to do so - someone decided only 7 was necessary. And we'll probably still turn out in droves, supporting the theory only 7 was necessary.

You can define the website as fluff, but it was a big part of the lead-up to the event that enthralled the event's faithful (whether you liked it or not). It's part of what put HHN above and beyond other big Halloween events. Even if you didn't care about it, it's still a cut, just like how WDW cuts "fluff" routinely (resort-specific merchandise, Disney-branded napkins & cups, etc.) Declining by degrees, One Disney, all terms that could be applied to what we know about this year's event.

Other cuts have actually occurred over the last several years and just appear all the more obvious this year. Less people were cast last year - significantly less. It would appear that trend has continued based on reports from casting... they can say the streets will be "bigger" or whatever, but it's just marketing speak.

In 2007, we had 8 houses, a "no-safe zone" park (yeah right) and 4 shows. This year, we get 2. Shows have been gradually reduced since 07. Maybe you don't care about shows. Fine. But it's still a cut that wasn't reciprocated somewhere else.

I won't get into the icon/overarching theme stuff since it isn't necessarily a "cut..." but many fans are disappointed by the lack of either, but, hey, AMC's The Walking Dead!

Not everything about this year is a bad thing, for the record. The graveyard street theming looks stellar. If more freedom is given to the actors than in previous years (trends say no, hoping it's yes) the streets could be amazing. Gothic and Dead End look like amazing original houses. Some of the IPs should be executed really well. But the overall direction the event is taking in regards to its presentation is unsettling and disappointing, to say the least.

Yeah but saying "cut" implies a budget cut which doesn't appear to be true. What we do appear to have is a restructuring of where money will go (into houses). If shows were cut, I'm assuming the money was filtered into the houses. They lost not one, but TWO potential house locations so having 7 houses should be a blessing this year. On top of that they have a parade and a TON of construction going on.

It's very humorous to me that every year there seems to be the general "I don't like the way they are going this year. It's the start of a bad trend." It's a year where EVERYTHING in the park is in flux. Let's not start mourning the downfall of an event based on a year that hasn't even started yet .

Dead End:
The flying books were a great tough in the library. I agree with everybody saying this is what LT should have been all along. I'm currently watching "American Horror Story" Season1, which embodies the same type horror this house does. I love it!

Yes. I was hoping to watch that show during HHN, actually. Oh well.

I'm liking the fact that the "Dead Inside" subname is missing from TWD.. Hope that's permanent.

So much for the "DM won't ever be open because adults won't ever want to see it" argument.

I am just curious to see what the wait times will be, not that I really care about DM.

Yeah, I was just informed, thanks.

Its open because its about all they got left to offer, I don't see it being all that popular until it gets crowded.
