I doubt that if you pay almost half of a full day's admission to attend a world class event, you'd be so willing to just get up from the flagship show. It does give a disclaimer, but that's hardly an excuse to condone offensive theatrics. Not everyone is privileged enough to not feel unnecessary offense. Political jabs and religious remarks are one thing, but when it delves into ridiculing a certain group of people for stereotypes surrounding something they can't change, it's just distasteful.

Being politically correct isn't the goal. Being at the very least a decent human being throughout a comedy show is.

It's all or nothing Viola, you can't say it's ok to poke fun at your political viewpoint or better yet your religious views but not your sexual preference. IMO this is one of the biggest issues in this country. No one can take a joke these days. Everyone is all up in arms losing there minds about how I'm different, let me be different, but don't talk about me being different. I personally think the show is tame compared to everyday tv shows, movies, public school yards, and talks around the water cooler at work.

Okay. La Llorona looks to be first at bat for the next wave of houses. While I do like the La Lanora house from Hollywood, I am growing old of getting Hollywood's hand-me-downs and IPs instead of unique stories and characters that A&D create.

Never seen a La Llorona house. A classic urban legend. Unique to me. Bring it on.

And we are getting chainsaws it seems.

I'm excited for La Llorona. Rave reviews out of Cali.

Cooper had great reviews out of Cali as well... but I feel like this will translate way better.

I'm definitely interested in how the La Llorona house is going to turn out, especially as to how it will compare with what Hollywood got.

La Llorona has actually been the house I've been anticipating most, ever since it was first rumored. Definitely very stoked to see it. :)

Oh my God thank you! Ill use the oldest example in the book...back when women wanted rights people complained that they still expected to have the door held open for them. Now, Im not against womens rights or being a gentlemen, but that principle remains true. If you want to flaunt your religious, political, or sexual beliefs, then youre going to be treated differently...because youre acting differently. You dont see Bill and Ted just going after people who are a certain demographic, you see them going after the obnoxious examples of whatever theyre parodying.

Do you think it was better than Dead End? I heard a lot of good things about that, no?

The fact that certain things are considered "views" and others simply unchangeable conditions is the reason why I said things can be changed. I can take a gay joke, a POC one even, but it gives me a feeling that just because I'm not a straight white person (and for women, a man), I'm instantly associated to being the lesser. And maybe it's because of my sobriety, but I don't find it funny. It's not being able to take a joke because you simply have no place in this. As straight white men, you don't have to take that, so your opinion systematically doesn't hold weight. So I have to shut up because I feel hurt about something someone said? That doesn't sound like taking a joke to me. That sounds like mutely allowing people to walk over your kin with stereotypes and ridicule.

Essentially, being a minority is tough because you have to pretend to feel as though a jab at something you can't change means nothing to you when it really does. Call me oversensitive, but I'll stick with my wish to see humor without offense to minorities.

Anyway, I'm very excited about La Llorona coming this year. Also, I might be working some vendor shifts this year, so I'll let y'all know where you can find me.

The effects and theming of dead end were great but nothing could compare to Ll Lorona between both events last year. To give you an idea I only went through it once at Hollywood the one night I was there. On the other hand I went through Dead End at least a dozen times over the course of the event. I had to sit here and think about Dead End for a few minutes while I still remember the Ll Lorona house like it was yesterday. That says something...

I didn't get to experience it (DE that is) so I was just curious. La Llarona 2 was pretty damn amazing. I went thru LL1 with Murdy himself and it was clearly built with heart. But even he admitted it wasn't scary enough. Cut to: one year later and the improvements greatly upped the scare factor.

Ok you want singled out how about being the fat kid, with health issues, and had to wear head gear to school. Just because I'm a white male doesn't mean at one point or in fact for most of my life I wasn't the target of cruel hatred, beatings, and the center of everyone's jokes. Did I let it get to me? Nope not once! I was, is, and always will be better than them and that's how you have to think. People make fat jokes to this day and I still laugh my ass off about it. Why? Because its funny and most of the time it's true lol. Listen its not about being gay, black, straight, Asian, or so on. It's about being different. If someone wants to be different but can't handle the attention and criticism that comes with it that's fine, just sit down and blend in like most of the society. I on the other hand was never like that and applaud those who are also "different" and damn proud of it and could give two ****s about those who joke or tease those that are not your average person.

La Llorona is something I don't mind coming to Orlando - it's an "original" concept, urban legend or not (I mean, look at Scary Tales), and their take is clearly going to be very different, with an emphasis on the water. After Saws 'n Steam's crazy use of water effects back in 2011, this sounds very interesting. I look forward to hearing more, just hope the child-killing aspect isn't hush hush'd because we're in politically correct Orlandoland.

Speaking of which...

I'm sorry, again, it's all or nothing on the political correctness joke guys. Bill & Ted should be open season - threat of lawsuits prevent that from completely happening in terms of portraying other companies' characters (parody laws be damned), but we don't need to water it down anymore than that... I'm looking at you, butchered presidential raps last year (seriously, the one good bit of the show and they destroy it because some FOX fanatic's rant went viral).

I don't care if you're white, black, redneck, Republican, Democrat, gay, straight, Asian, Indian, blonde, German, whatever - once you enter Bill & Ted, all bets are off. It's a comedy free for all at an adult entertainment event. If you seriously can't laugh at yourself in the lighthearted frame of Bill & Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure... I don't know what to tell you. And if it's any consolation, I've always watched the show sober, and never found it offensive. The past few years it's actually been pretty tame. (I still don't know what apparently homophobic jokes were made last year...?)

Alice Cooper is the kind of source material that has potential, but unless you really know what you want to do with it, doesn't really get too far. It was a passion project for Murdy, so it worked well over there.

La Llorona is a more traditional horror. Easier to translate. I think it will do wonderfully.

violarum said:
Hopefully the show isn't as misogynistic and homophobic this year as it has been. There's a fine line in parody comedy that stands between being funny and just offensive. And then people become defensive because they're not the ones being offended, and then things get ugly.

Expecting B&T to be politically correct is like expecting it to be actually funny...
