I think it would be a bit of overkill to scrap purge because of Pulse. I understand respecting the victims. So taking out guns wouldn't be a problem, I don't find them scary anyways. But what does some characters from an over the top fake movie, A not so great movie if you ask me, have to do with anything real? I don't mean any disrespect whatsoever to anyone, but isn't that a bit ridiculous to scrap a whole zone because of it?

You're assuming that's what happened. It's just as likely they didn't want to reuse a scare zone so quickly, think the event is already too IP heavy, came up with a better idea, or even that it was removed from the plans BEFORE the shootings.

While it's going to be the only time I bring it up (as I was mentioning that I wish USH gets scarezones instead of goddamn roaming hoards); it could be column A and B.

This year has proved to be a very IP heavy year; and it wouldn't be a shock that they thought of a better idea to do with a similar premise rather than doing an IP (although it could be rebutted with Comcast forcing it). And it could be that it would be more insensitive than usual for Orlando, causing them to rearrange things and taking out The Purge for Orlando.

I do think that it could of happened; but with Hollywood announcing Purge while Orlando is quiet, that all but confirms that you will not see any form of Purge material for Orlando. I do hope they don't market The Purge as the focal point of the event for USH (especially when the Killer Quintet is at Horror Nights for USH). But, that's for Hollywood's thread as you guys get a true icon for this year..

Do they pay for the IPs? Or is there a quid pro quo for the advertising the event generates for the IP?

If they pay I can't see dropping them but if QPQ then it may be less of a problem to drop anything they have a problem with.

If I were to guess, I would think that each IP is probably negotiated seperatly and that the answer to that question might vary depending on the IP.

Universal pays to use the IPs that are not owned by Comcast. Thus, the rumor I heard regarding Scream. Namely, that Universal approved, designed, and built Scream under the assumption they could get the rights. I know the assumption is that Dimension pulled out last minute, but (and I'll admit it's a rumor a couple degrees separated) but I'm inclined to believe they weren't at the table in the first place.

Its the fact that, yes, Universal pays for IPs that actually makes this more believable. If Dimension had the money in pocket, I can't imagine they would back out. They would absolutely back out if they took offense to Universal's gross assumption.

Not officially. It was planned, it was approved, it was built and even had the Ghostface cut of the commercial.

There just may have never been an agreement to use it.

It's all spinning wheels since no one knows if the Purge was actually coming back to Orlando in any form either way. Onwards and upwards!
