IPs that have been used at the event before (spoiler tagging for length):
That's a total of 41 IPs! What we can eliminate:
The Purge and Evil Dead (not happening)
Any of last year's other IPs (AWIL, Insidious, FVJ, and probably NOES and F13th as well)
Saw (No repeats)
IPs that probably wouldn't be used again (People Under the Stairs, Doomsday, FDTD, CITW, Alice Cooper, Cirque du Freak, Dead Silence)
Eliminating those leaves us with Crypt Keeper, Hellraiser, Silence of the Lambs, The Ring, Child's Play, Penn and Teller, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Halloween.
So Purge and Evil Dead are officially out?
I'm curious as to why NOES and F13th would be tossed out just because FvJ was used last year... Each character has more than enough material to do multiple different houses.
I never got to see the Saw house, but once again, there is way more than enough material for it to be used and not actually be a repeat. I doubt we're getting Saw though. Why now?
I totally disagree with your assumption that Cabin in the Woods won't be used again. Mike (or someone using the HHN twitter) said that AWiL (which was basically a complete repeat with only 2 years apart) and Cabin in the Woods were 2 of their favorite houses they worked on of all time. If it is one of their favorites of all time, it's most likely coming back at some point. However, if there are truly no repeats then this year doesn't seem as likely considering the limited amount of material to go off.
Silent Hill wasn't well received if I remember correctly, so why bring that back?
I know they classify the Hannibal series as a horror/thriller, but I always felt it was more suspense/thriller. Sure, horrific things take place in the films, but I don't know... Do you think that it could be done as a house on it's own? I guess I'm just not much of a fan really, so it's hard for me to picture it. I think the movie Se7en was more of a horror than any of the Hannibal films.
All I have to say about Resident Evil is that they better go off the movie and do a much better job the next time they attempt it (assuming there is a next time).
Hellraiser had crossed my mind, but I figured they might want to wait until the new film finally gets released. I'd be happy if this does end up being chosen. I'd hope they use a soundstage for this one.
All in all... Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, with an outside shot of Hannibal... That would be some of my guesses for what could be going into the Parade building. Hellraiser would be on the list as well, but like I just said, I'd hope that would be put in a soundstage. Grrr... Just found out M Night Shyamalan is rebooting Tales from the Crypt for TNT (network). God help us all!
