Interesting (slightly related) tidbit regarding zones:

My first trip to Uni was 2016. Every year there's been some type of large props/permanent structures/set dressing for zones. I never went to Uni while HHN wasn't going until 2020. So it was the first time I actually saw the park without any scare zone sets, and it was kinda weird.

But bouncing off of that - what permanent structures have they had in the past that would have been affected by the parade?

Siiiick

And that stuff just stayed up all day? Am I crazy to think that they could pull stuff like that out after the closure of USF?

This stuff was up all day

A lesser example, but the fog tunnel and props for Containment also stayed up all day

The point being, they were allowed to build big on the zones pre parade.

Most of the larger set pieces that they left up all day made the paths narrower so as to obscure your view of the scare actors or make the guests easier prey

I am actually curious if that strategy would even work with the crowd levels the last few years?

Honestly the crowd levels likely would affect the ability to do stuff like this. I mean even Hellbilly Deluxe felt insanely cramped to me.

Hell, even Asylum in Wonderland in HHN 18 is another good example. The light rigging, the props throughout....

I'd love a return to that

This is exactly what I mean

Dead Man’s Wharf and Invasion both got really bottlenecked. In fact, we got trapped for about 10 minutes trying to get through DMW one night

I miss this kind of zone in Hollywood

I suppose I'd be more forgiving if Superstar wasn't so terrible

Counterpoint - All zones mentioned were in SF, an always notorious spot for bottlenecking and crowding.

Oh, believe me, I know.

I was just using that as an example as that zone has utilized larger set pieces the last few years

More lighting rigs like Wonderland in all the zones would be welcome and (hopefully) not as intrusive or likely to cause bottleneck

I am honestly not certain if the 2010 Warehouse zone or those of a similar stripe would even work with the crowd levels we have had over the last 5+ years

Unpopular opinion, but I feel the back of the park should be roaming hordes only

They already somewhat do that with the chainsaw team, but throw in some others and it would liven up the back of the park a bit

Although, crowd level wise it may be a bad idea because the back of the park is a bit tighter

As far as "back of the park", where do you mean specifically?

Isn't there an issue adding much to the back of the park due to spacing near MIB and contract issues with the entrance to Potter?

The thing that comes to mind the most is the ziplines crossing over for the flying monkeys between Shrek and Jimmy Neutron.

I miss the full sets too, but keep in mind that Superstar Parade is cherished by Bill Davis, and people LOVE this parade/shows, especially with the show stops. It's the highest guest rated entertainment venue at Universal Studios and if I'm not mistaken...the whole resort.

Yes, lol it's wishful thinking at best

I'm not sure about contracts...but it is rather tight back there

I 100% agree. I'd happily trade a San Francisco scare zone for a smaller one in Kidzone near Animal Actors. I feel like that area of the park is always underutilized.

KZ has two house portals/exit, Pizza Fries and various food & drink tents. It's a lot going on in a small cluster, which makes any kind of zone not really feasible. I recall people mentioning crowding was a issue when they had zones in there for 18 and 19.

It is definitely a huge issue when HHN is running full steam (meaning 2019 and in the past)

Although many of us go when crowds are lighter, Hell Week needs to be considered in our wishful thinking lol

I've always found it odd how they structured the NY zone. For example, the stages for Zombieland/Vamp should have been down the Blues Brothers street and not where you have 3 house entrances and exits, tribute store and the Mummy.

If Universal is satisfied with their own treatment of Mardi Gras, based on today, and things remain the same from a, virus that shall not be named, standpoint, I would put money on Universal having a next to normal scarezone setup. MAYBE scareactors on stages, etc.

The only time I've seen the streets the way they were today, was during HHN. Not saying it's safe, but if they're happy with it, normal SZ's here we come.
