I miss the drop bridge. It was cheap and somewhat tacky, but it was one of the most consistently effective scare effects in Universal’s arsenal.

It has a very clear progression.

EDIT - Most tent houses are fairly “environmental” or “theme” focused. They establish a setting, determine a monster, and that’s basically it. Scarecrow is midwest farm and scarecrows. Depths of Fear is underwater base and mutants. In-Between is hell dimension and demons. Etcétera etcétera. There may be a loose “story” within the setting, but the setting is the focus. Even some of the IP houses they’ve done have gone that route.

Wicked Path isn’t like that. There are varied locations and you are, basically, walking a path into the realm of the Pumpkin King.

So can we expect sth like pumpkin eater at Knotts? Also already exited about how the lighting in that house could be

Conceptually? Yeah. I think very much so.

Am I crazy, or was the last time they used that Dead Silence in 2007? I recall it was part of the catwalk mirror gag but not sure if it has appeared since.

I swear it was part of Interstellar Terror in 2008.

I remember they used to use a vibrating floor at HOS

Shame floor effects have kind of gone away at the big two

Minus the tilted hallway, those are dope

I know they had a floor gag for Tomb of the Ancients for Employee Preview but it was cut by Night #1

We're drifting, but...

How about the under-the-floor scare in 2010's Legendary Truth? I feel like there may have been some other under the guests shenanigans in the original Dead Exposure, too - but removed early that season. I could be misremembering.

^ I was going to mention Tomb, as well.

I'd be surprised if crowds wasn't part of it; they almost always cause a bottle neck.

The natural reaction when the floor moves is to get closer to the ground...or hit the floor

Wouldn't be surprised if people hit the floor with this (out of fear)

I just know that an unexpected drop of several inches would make me worry about my ankles.

It was only an inch. No bigger than the Twister finale.

Throughput is definitely a factor with things like the floor effects. Whenever they use the inflatable walls, they'll eventually either turn off half or both sides to increase the number of guests they can push through.

Feel like we've brought up Graveyard a bunch lately, but that's another neat effect that was "turned off" for throughput. The original "pitch black" hallway was incredibly interesting, but ops needed to throw in a bright EXIT sign cause the house kept getting clogged. People would come to a dead stop in that hallway and it created a traffic snake all the way up to the first Goth Girl scare.

I remember having to be a temporary line op one time due to a backup, had to holler "MOVE FORWARD" to get it going. Though I still loved that hall since it was a creepy mindscrew of a moment.

What's the chance they recast most of the Puppet Theatre crew from the BTS video?

I don’t have any information on the casting process, but I’m assuming they only casted what was necessary, and they probably used people from the other houses open around the time (Tooth and Brides.) I’m guessing they’re probably going to be casting from scratch, especially since it seemed that quite a few people weren’t doing just one house last year. Some moved to Beetlejuice and some did the Puppet Theatre video.

God you're making me miss this house.

Forgive me for skipping the last 15 pages since the announcements - but even though I'm not attending this year there's just a certain feeling seeing that first announcement. A sense of normalcy!

I am incredibly jealous of all of you.
