I had heard they were, but I just looked and it looked and it appears the creators are in the early stages trying to get funding for it.

With Biden now saying that all adults will eligible to get the vaccine by May 1st, that has to look really good for a somewhat normal HHN. Somewhat normal meaning everyone still in masks and dedicated eating/drinking areas.

I am honestly surprised that they have to have designated eating/drinking zones, just goes to show how much space they actually have in the park to do that stuff safely anyway. I've seen so many people precovid that run into each other because one of them was walking while eating or drinking, xD.

Mark my words, the debate about Plexi is going to pursue throughout the whole spec season because no one is gonna really know what is gonna happen.
I bet they still install it though just in case, it would be dumb not to, and then strike it if they feel like they can get rid of it while still making people comfortable.
But if I had to guess, I'll be optimistic and say there will not be plexiglass. Maybe on some nights, there will be Plexi and some nights have it removed? They can put it on the site when you reserve your day(s) so people that are a little bit more cautious may want to go with a night with glass, but for the people that don't think it's a huge deal can really get that true HHN feel.

Another potentially interesting aspect for this event that I don't know if I've seen anyone mention is how different things could potentially be over the course of the event. The operations could be different in the beginning of September and the end of October, so someone that goes in the beginning of the event could have to deal with more restrictions than those at the end. Or if there is a resurgence in the Fall, it could be the opposite. I'm booking my trip for the very last week of the event at the end of October, so I'm banking on it being the least restrictive time of the event, but it could backfire too. I mean they could make a decision to keep the structure of the event the same throughout, but I expect there to be some volatility.

I think masks are going to be plentiful from now on, particularly during flu season. It's been that way in some Asian cultures and I think a lot of Americans and other cultures will be adapting that for the forseeable future. Especially when going to a world wide tourist destination. Most of the world got lucky with SARS, everybody got hit hard by Covid-19, you have to expect the next coronavirus isn't too far in the future. It's a new reality until they figure out a long term vaccine that can defeat all forms of coronaviruses if that is even possible. I think our best bet will be annual covid shots just like the flu ones - ie based on what strains seem to be lurking.

I'm particularly interested in stuff like the Health Passports being developed to "prove" your vaccination status and/or recent negative testing. The ACLU, antivaxers, antimaskers, etc will all protest it, but much like 9/11 gave us TSA and enhanced security rules that haven't gone away, I think something that killed over half a million Americans in under a year is going to have long lasting results.

It will be interesting to see if HHN has beergardens like some people think but allow food an non-alcoholic beverages to be consumed throughout the park. While a lot of concert venues, theme parks, stadiums have stuff like that already, from a scientific standpoint, drinking a soda releases as much water particles from your mouth as a beer does. So that's a tough sell. And part of the benefit of HHN is you drink and have fun, but don't get drunk...at least with my group. And that's because we're drinking while walking 12 miles a night metabolizing the alcohol quickly as well as sweating it out of our system. Forcing people to stand around and drink in a confined area might theoretically cause people to get more intoxicated. And having everybody who's drinking being in the same area along with different opinions on masks with some people be violently opposed to them while others violently offended if you aren't wearing one in their presence, would probably lead to an increase in drunk altercations. A limit of the amount you could have a night might be the best idea, but that will go against the "spirit of the event" for a lot of people and would hurt Universal in the wallet.

Also, saying that everybody who is taking their mask off to consume food or beverages have to be in the same area and remain stationary doesn't sound like the smartest idea from a scientific point of view.

Regardless, there are going to be some rules that a lot of people won't like, but everybody needs to understand they are being done safety in mind. Some might be scrapped after the first week and others might be introduced mid-event. There's no roadmap for this.

I agree, if Universal is going to have alcohol in a confined space, limiting it is the best solution. I don’t think they’ll do that because, like you said, that’s money they don’t make. But tbf, limiting the amount of drinks someone can buy during HHN has been something I think they should implement even out of COVID season. Lots of groups are able to maintain their alcohol intake and not get drunk but a lot of groups...don’t. And that means actors and parkgoers are less safe. I’m not saying they should ban alcohol altogether cuz drinking is a big part of the event, but it should be limited for the safety and enjoyment of others.

I think at the very least, masks will be required and plexiglass will be in the houses.

If they start the event one way, I can't see them changing it midway through the event.

I think plexiglass will make a slow transition out over time as Florida becomes more vaccinated. The President has already said that he expects the 4th of July to be "near normal."

If the event starts with plexi, it'll finish with plexi.

I believe he was referring to leading up to the event, not during the event itself.

I could be wrong, but that doesn't make sense. "Slow transition over time" implies over the course of the event, otherwise, the plexi would just be hone at the start.

I’m not going to pretend to know where we’ll be in August when it comes to plans. They did introduce more alcohol options during the 2020 Halloween event.

For sure. I think it's fun to speculate and predict, but none of us know for certain what things are going to be like 6 months from now. Things will probably fall somewhere between how the houses were set up last year and how it was in 2019. I enjoy the discussion and opinions are great, but nothing should be in absolutes right now.

But we're not in the houses during that time. It would still be all at once on 9/3 from our perspective.

I think I'd bet on masks, but not on plexiglass, personally.

That said, ask again in July.

Yeah - we're still early in the game. Let's see how the vaccine rolls out over the coming months before we start guessing what kind of adjustments are made. Let's just celebrate the event is finally coming back.
