As I've said, every season, and many other have said this year and past years as well: Multinight tickets being held back for so long really hurts the out of town die hards. And let's be honest, Universal has to love and want to cater to those people as they're the ones who party hardy, stay on site, eat all their meal on site, etc.
Like you look at annual music festivals. They put full weekend/event tickets on sale at a discount super early, then they announce a few bands and tickets go up a bit, then they announce more bands, then they raise ticket prices again, and then they announce the full lineup, tickets are more expensive...and THEN they release single day tickets.
Look at Epic, they did the same thing. Ticket bundles on sale first, then, eventually, single day tickets.
HHN does the opposite. It's really frustrating and I think it might cost them some money. Like last year we had the RoF date issue (which was equally my group's fault, I admit) where we had to reschedule our trip to get the most out of the ticket. We had to book more expensive flights, book an additional rental, etc...and it cut back our spending at the event. For the first time in over a decade, nobody in my group did the UTH tour. We also didn't do Stay & Scream at Finnegans every night, but had dinner at our resort and came late a few times.
Had the multinight tickets been on sale earlier, we'd have know the exact dates of the tickets, purchased them, then booked a single resort suite and gotten our great deal on airfare. Would have had a ton more budgeted/disposable dollars to blow at the event.
I'm not saying we need announcements sooner, we're going regardless, but to have your most loyal attendees, who buy the multinight tickets and dump the most money into the concessions on a nightly basis, over the barrel is crazy. It would be like dynamic pricing for any kind of concert/flight/sporting event making it harder to purchase tickets early and then making them more accessible the closer it gets.
And that concludes my rant for this year, stay tuned for my HHN35 rant coming in 12 months.
