none of the things in this video could even generously be described as a scare zone. was it featured elsewhere?

Japan could get something with Mario

Because they have a daytime Halloween event that’s aimed at families.

Yeah, no, Nintendo is not going to have a haunted house, scare zone, or show at a "horror" event recommended for ages 13+.

If UO ever expanded its Halloween offerings to include family-friendly entertainment outside of Horror Nights, then maybe that’s a different conversation. Key word is "family-friendly," not "horror."

Ding ding ding - and I'd love to see this happen eventually.

I think a big question for 2025 is - will Springfield still be around, or could we see construction start? Will the old sprung tents still be available? Could we EVER see one of the parade buildings return?

Japan’s HHN leans heavily on a friendly, party atmosphere. Their zombies do highly choreographed TikTok dances, for example. The “horror” is very much separated in the houses and, even then, is more fun-focused than scare-focused. Japan is not an accurate bar for the use of Nintendo in “HHN” at all.

Seems we might have a genuine story building up here regarding the Idols/totems. Interested to see what they do for this year.

Nintendo at a Halloween event? Sure. Nintendo at HHN. That's a hard no.

I promise I’m not trying to be a jerk, but we need to take off the rose-colored glasses in some instances.

Or they're just putting another idol in the window for the fans to see during the off-season.

Almost wanted to bring up something as a thought if it could be in the terms of USH, as we use SNW during HHN but we don't theme it (atleast for now) to match the Halloween season.

Nintendo doesn't have anything that'd remotely even fit to HHN, even their darker IP like Metroid can only do so much (and it has never actually been attempted to be done for a mature and adult audience). They have an image to uphold, and it doesn't make sense that they'd have Horror Nights experiences interminged with Nintendo.

If this was last year, I'd agree with you, but the fact that they're seemingly connecting the Idols with each other just gives me a hunch we could see it continue. Not trying to say it's gonna culminate this year or anytime soon, just cool to see that there might be a genuine side-story to watch here over the years.

Respectfully, there isn't really any connection between Sinist3r, Surr3al, and Oddfellow other than they're mascot characters for a Halloween event. They may eventually do another "icons" house that incorporates those characters, but there's no tangible evidence -- even in the loriest of lore -- that they're trying to build connections between the latest ones. Sure, there's occasional use of and reference to totems, but they've been referenced totems since 2010 when they introduced FEAR. And yes, they both reference fear, because they're... at a Halloween event, and it makes for easy copy.

Again, not trying to yuck anyone's yum when it comes to digging into fun HHN lore. I've been there. But I think you're looking for depth that just isn't there.

Oh no, I'm not trying to say it's connecting the Duality and Oddfellow, or trying to lead up to some big event. I'm talking strictly the Idols themselves as a little side-story to potentially watch unravel. One Idol is a Boris story, another Idol connects to Evil's Roots, next Idol shows a completely different event. A neat anthology story.

Low key I wouldn't mind a Poseidon's Fury house akin to how they did the Hades house. Maybe throw in some Terror Mines monsters as well. . .

As much as I want a Poseidon's Fury house, I think it wouldn't be the best look if they did it now while the attraction is still sitting abandoned.

Agreed. Also, it would be better served as just a Greek house without any connection to former attractions.

Not to sound greedy, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see originals get dumped in March or April to deter speculation maps from leaking them out early. Anyone with better knowledge correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that believed to be one of the reasons for the dump last year?

On the topic of video game IPs which could show up, I do agree that The Last of Us pt. II and Silent Hill are in that boat, each with their own reasons.

The Last of Us pt. II - Unless I'm wrong, I think the first house went over pretty well between HHN, Sony and Naughty Dog (especially over in Hollywood), and with the highly anticipated next season of the series coming out, it would line up nicely for another house at the event.

Silent Hill - The franchise has been climbing back into the spotlight thanks to the remake of the 2nd game, and the movie Return to Silent Hill is in production/maybe releasing next year. Also, Silent Hill has something unique going for it, as Murdy from Hollywood has expressed interest in returning to the IP. And Aiello over here has stated he would love another shot at Silent Hill as he felt they didn't quite get it right the first time. When the directors for both coasts have an interest in returning to an IP, that's gotta' be to its benefit as a creative members interest/passion in an IP/theme can help make it get picked.

I would sob if we got Silent Hill done properly, especially after Insidious this year? I fully trust the team to do it justice if given the proper planning time.

silent hill would be really easy since they already did it.
but I always wish silent hill was a scarezone. since the games have a lot of outdoor scenes. imagine the fog in the park and the streets with the sirens. would be amazing

It would be cool if they released the originals similarly to how they did this year. Can result in some surprises, so the method worked.
